I was in the same boat about a decade ago - however we were both being pressured to “invite more people” etc. As long as you’re both happy with it as opposed to caving to family interference you should be fine. I think we both wish we had told certain family members (who didn’t actually pay for anything) where to stuff it. But we were the first of our friends/siblings to get married and didn’t really think “small” was feasible. And our wedding was SMALL, we had like 60 people and that felt overcrowded.

I feel like if you live in the GTA any house is going to hold value with or without the reno - most people are just gutting completely anyway so anything like a kitchen is not going to add anything. We’ve done all wiring, new panel, water heater, new plumbing, new kitchen, stripped all wallpaper off every surface (even the ceilings!!!!), new bathroom, new windows, new back deck, new shed..... it’s been great for us because we bought a real haunted shithole (aka “fixer upper”) but we’ll likely never be able to move. Good thing I love my haunted creepy noise basement!
