Indeed, you did very well! Lots of great info and looking forward to diving in at the first opportunity.

I have a question: Is there multi-track video looping software like there is audio? The idea being you have multiple cameras and a midi cc command would loop one camera and another would loop another and on and on, each of the loops layered on top of each otherr? Essentially multi-track video looping. Does such a thing exist yet?

Thanks!

I think kaeth has given some great advice. Sometimes paying more up front to get things that all should
work together is a first step... and then as you learn more through experience you can delve into the
trial-and-error method after already having a primer on some of the basics and how things work or can work.

Yes, Kaeth has been invaluable to me and this thread.

Cross post from... whatever that other nonsense thread I made is... mroztronium (horn dog, grackler) seems to be making a video synth. I can't post "Stories" so here is the teaser.

Also.. I started following andrei_jay_creative_coding. He has an etsy... with two stand alone digital video synths. They're coded in Rasperry Pi (which seems to be the FV-1 of the video synth world).
He has his site that is bonkers too https://andreijaycreativecoding.com/. The site has github source code for his creations.
And an etsy for the video synths... https://www.etsy.com/shop/VIDEOWAAAVES

Also... if anyone knows what they used to make this video in the early 90s... please post here.

I've been re-watching OZ clips lately too. Not synthesis per say but I love those dated HBO video effects.

Early 90s, maybe video toaster. Later 90s, maybe toaster or After Effects.

I would like to eventually expand my video setup to include a BPMC mixer of some sort and some video feedback. I was planning on a Vidiot, but didn't realize they were discontinued. I'll have to check out their new Chromagnon thing
So I rearranged my setup and have a dedicated video corner now (I also have two extra, unused mixers and an extra mixer stand that is going to make a fun no input mixer feedback setup):

Still just using the B&W Video Scope through the Premium Cable, but I also backed the new Critter and Guitari Eyesy on Kickstarter. Now I'm wondering if there are any inexpensive/basic video mixers to combine/layer the B&W Video Scope and the Eyesy signals? Also half considering just flipping the B&W Video Scope now that used prices are ridiculous and could literally cover the cost of the Eyesy

Love this thread. Got an Eyesy but haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

That waaave pool thing looks interesting. For someone not well versed in video synthesis, I'm having a hard time understanding the differences between the Basic, Basic Plus and Capture editions.
Warpsmasher wrote:I've entered video nerddom via After Effects, which I mostly use as a multi-FX processor for video clips. Many elements of synthesis and sampling can also be incorporated, and I've found it very useful to have the past experience with all of that before getting deeply involved with AE. I think it's the most worthwhile investment of time if you're looking to create lasting permanent work, but for fast creations on the fly, a gear-based/modular system may serve you better. AE is also a marketable skill that you can go freelance with once you learn enough useful stuff.
Boris Continuum is the plugin pack to install for all the best effects. It has pixel chooser and beat reactor extensions for most of its effects, which multiplies the possibilities quite a bit. It is also available for Vegas, which is easier to use and learn, but that was crashy on my computer so I just bit the bullet and learned how to use AE. The time effects in AE are also lots of fun. They are the delay and reverb of video.
Have to say, this post inspired me to dive in to After Effects and Boris FX and it has been a lot of fun. This is a cross post from the Music Video thread but think it is relevant here, hope no one minds

I came back to post the Andrei Jay fundamentals of video synthesis stuff. He's also doing cool stuff mixing video synthesis and tarot.

I've been researching making a LED video wall ever since I came across these kits: https://elektric-junkys.com/LED-Product ... KIT-60LEDm.

The idea fits into a different idea that I've had for awhile now that is a bit more complex than a 2D video wall but this is a start.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has any insight into other kits or resources that might be useful as I try to figure out what I'm doing. This sort of thing seems to have take off some in the eastern part of the globe but I'm not finding much on the west.

Anyone done something like this or have any insight? :idk: :idk: :idk:
