My initial idea was to simply voice my opinion on the aesthetics of the pedals. You challenged that opinion, so I elaborated on my view. You said you don't need fancy looking things to be inspired, which doesn't make any sense considering your past and current gear and business of making gear look nicer/cooler, so at this point the purpose was to point that out so we could continue with the discussion on these particular pedals' aesthetics. You didn't, at the time of writing, seem to inhabit the amount of self-insight or self irony to realize your logical error in regards to aesthetics=inspiration and have a laugh about it and went full-on defensive mode. I thought that was unlike you and thought 'not worthy of my time' was a cheap excuse, so I challenged you some more to see if you were willing to admit that you also care about aesthetics. That was a bad calculation on my part, apparently, because I didn't realize I had upset you as much as I must have done. So, that was my trail of thoughts, and I definitely didn't mean to make you upset, only to discuss and banter. I wouldn't challenge your opinion if I didn't care what you thought of the issue, which was why I was a little relentless in letting it go. I did not, however, want it to get hostile the way I interpreted your last reply before this one to be, so I opted out. I like and respect you, so I'd rather we not discuss it further if we're not able to keep it civil, you know? OK. Rant over.

I'm still upset a bit, but I'm dealing with a lot of outside elements right now that are causing my reaction to probably be more than what it should be. Or more than is appropriate. I should not have proceeded down the negative route, I know that. So, for that I apologize and I do like you as well and regardless of what I said, I do value your opinions. It was a stab and I shouldn't have gone there.

So, I think we just misunderstood each other, maybe mostly me. I will admit that and I'm sorry.

I was just excited to see this you know? When you get excited you don't always think about the cons of things. I know I've been negative on other peoples thoughts on looks/designs as well, so I am being a hypocrite there.

I dig you Kent, let's move on. I'm good with that.

I'm sorry too, bud

I hope the stuff you're dealing with irl works out, and I really really am happy for everyone who has been waiting to get their hands on these. The Depth Charge actually sounds really nice, so maybe I'll end up eating my own words and getting one eventually. :p

Excellent meme, Paul.

I think every bassist needs to try the Depth Charge at least once. Don't give up on it after the first try either. It has a lot of cool tonal qualities in there. Trent Reznor uses one, that's good enough for me! haha

Also interested in this. And other variants? I've never tried one.
This though. Is it the best the best the best the best the the best the best the best the best the best

Or can a get a less ugly one that sounds as good?

I personally did not like the Malekko Brassmaster at all and I love this. I think it is tuned better, has a better eq and overall is just blended so much nicer for a bassist. Even when it's in the full mix on position, you have great lows. I love the pedal and have owned one off and on for the last decade or more. Excane introduced me and I fell in love. In fact, it's sitting on my board right now. The only reason I have mine listed is I'm broke. Shit sucks.

Cool, good to know. Have you tried it with passive basses as well?

Definitely would like to try one.

One of my basses is passive/active. The response is slightly different but I actually think it sounds better with a passive bass. It's a powerful pedal, so it doesn't really need that extra push from a preamp. If however you want a more crunch sound, it's better with an active.

Oh maaaaaaaaaan. I just got rid of my B:assmaster. Does this mean I need to invest in a Depth Charge? Siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

Awesome thanks for the info!

Everything sounds better with passive ;)

You don't like War Machine? :erm:
No ill intent, I just ran out of ideas. Didn't mean to imply that you (or anyone really) were taking active part in the argument. :)* You can be one of the Guardians if you want to?
I was totally joking. Just glad to be included really.

...maybe I am like War Machine :)*

I have a germanium Facelift pedal. It sounds amazing with my favorite amp but not so good with other amps. I really love it. I would probably get a silicone if those came out.
