It's a well-known idiom that makes sense in the context of the pedal/layout. It's not like there's an image of a black guy being whipped. It just seems like a slightly cheesy metal pedal. Maybe if the Master knob was white and the Slave knob black? Does the guy have a history of being a racist or having some right-wing affiliation?
Not that I'm aware of. Dude seemed to be well known on Tumblr before I ever heard about him on here.
