You mean the digitech pds 8000? I dont know, back in the day, companies were putting out new models all the time, nothing was here to stay... For the time being, except for giga-menu-diving delays, there's no pedal that offers very long delay times... So we're living the Golden Age of pedals, but this doesn't mean everything's available. There's global trends and some territories where pedal makers don't venture anymore (still whining about the fabulous "continuous recording" function on delays that was last seen in 1981...)...

No. Roland released these little AIRA units. The Scooper, Bitrazer, Torcido, Demora.
The Bitrazer was available at a big markdown for a while, then they all disappeared.

I don't they think they sold enough. Those things are fucking AMAZING. seriously capable of so much.. awesome as standalone units. you can build drone boxes/evolving patches with them if you download the editor. they;re ridiculous. kind why I got rid of mine, it can do so much you can get stuck trying different shit all the time ha

The Scooper always seemed really cool, but a lot of folks said that the fact that you needed to record a loop to use it made it cumbersome (as opposed to it constantly recording by default)? Also it's expensive and don't you need an ipad to get the most out of it?

I don't think the loop button is a pita? I guess you would need a knob or something to set loop length without it. my only gripe was that there was no cv in to control recording :/ if you're using it for table top stuff tho, that shouldn't be an issue. $300 is pushing it, but if you can get any of the boxes for under $200, they're a steal imo - just because of everything you can do under the hood. there's a torcido for $199 on reverb right now. also the program was super easy to use; you can use whatever phone/computer and update patches via aux cable. warpsmasher is the master of these things, I'm going to steal some words from him:
Q: Do all of the Editor virtual modules work for all models- Demora, Scooper etc?
Warpsmasher: The Trig to Delay Time CV submodule is for the Demora only, but all the rest of the submodules are for all 4.
Q: What is the limit? Is it the 6 slots as seen in the pic above? (Plus the 'main' effect of course)
Warpsmasher: Yes, up to six at once, and it's just the one page for patching (wysiwyg). You can also patch modules like tube clip in front of the main effect input and short delay after the effect output. The bottom strip in the editor represents the physical jacks on the surface of the module, the rest is internal. In the pic you can see that I'm only using the first input jack on the surface, but the filter submodule is patched to both the inputs on the virtual scooper, so there is still a stereo signal going into the effect. Also, the delay submodule is patched between one of the virtual scooper's outputs and it's surface jack, so the main effect goes through the delay on that channel.
Yes, the short delay feedback does indeed go to oscillation. You can make internal patches that consist of 6 short delay submodules, and use the 6 griffer jacks for audio, making your module a 6x mono short delay that mixes down to stereo or mono......or patch them all through each other and modulate all the parameters from outside...or just use 5 delays and an LFO, I mean why be greedy right?
lol I'm giving myself gas now

Like someone else mentioned. Reading this thread makes me feel guilty about not using/exploring my CT5 more. Off to do that now.

I really need to make some better clips of this —

Stammen and Super flutter have arrived at home!
The Stammen really is a versatile platform, that goes beyond pure glitch. Great pedal!
The Super flutter is a lot of fun, another difference with the raptio is that you can play with the pitch when you hold down the footswitch and tweak knobs. Sound doesn't deteriorate the (beautiful) way it does with other glitch pedals. And there's no click. The main drawback for me is that you dont have volume knobs on it, making subtle and/or outrageous effects impossible.
Another conclusion on that glitch journey, is that I first thought the Raptio was now obsolete, with all the new pedals available. Well, that's not the case at all. It is simple but very well thought-out, and, just like the ehx freeze, your imagination is the limit.
So I haven't played all the pedals mentioned here -far from it- but I'm sure they all imply a specific use, they are all unique. I dont believe there's one that would encompass everything, that would spare us the need to have them all.
And that's the bad news.

Christophe wrote:This reminds me something: I bought the very first jamman,a rack unit by Lexicon, back in the days, early 90s I think. There was no minimum length to your loops, so it could glitch! Like a raptio with no click. Then the next negeration of loopers took over (boss, digitech...), they had that stupid limitation: a few millisecond-long loop was too short, the looper wouldn't take it. Funny how it took 20 years for that groundbreaking feature to come back...
I still have my Jamman. The glitchy loops were not really something I ever explored with it, to be honest. I need to check it out!

Is there a worthwhile distinction between a true glitch/glitch pedal and something that sort of sounds like glitches? It seems like this might be something I made up. For instance, my Drolo Twin Peaks sounds to me like glitching depending on the setting, but really it's an irregular wave shape going at varying speeds. Is that glitching? It sounds like it to me.

If it sounds like glitching, glitching it is.
I honestly seem to prefer that type of sound to what I hear in most of the sample-based glitchers.

If it works it works although the pedals I was focused on in the OP were primarily microsamplers.

Because of this thread, I've been upping my Glitch game.
Just got the Revolver DX in and had an Infinite Jets and a Big Metal Judder arrive in the last month.
One odd thing about the Jets that I hadn't previously noticed is that it seems to be a bit noisy compared to when I originally owned it. I'm curious if that's a unit issue or if I didn't notice before.
I'm planning a massive glitch video for the Youtube's soon. Should be a lot of fun.

Watched the Pedal Show synth episode. Infinite Jets was quite noisy when it was not in use.

The Judder also raises the noise floor considerably. I true bypassed mine to keep it in my rig because otherwise it was adding a ton of white noise.
