Today is the day dozicusmaximus made me realize "DOOM" traces its lineage back to Geisha music.

I listened to this album a number of years ago...a poster was asking what string gauges were used (super super down tuned)...the album was yellow and had some Greek God blowing wind into a sail...any idea anyone? This one has stumped me for years.
That, and I forgot what no-wave band I was listening to around this time last year....

Never mind on the no-wave band...it was UT. I'm retarded.

Ahab? Kind of close to your description.

By the way Frankehooker is great. I love Brain Damage too.

Frank Henenlotter is awesome! Him and Abel Ferrara made my favorite movies of the 90s hands down. The fact Henenlotter made those awesome movies at 40 gives me hope in life.
Thanks for posting that other album. It was cool but I don't think that was it. This album had a song that was like the opening of 'Return Trip' but tuned two steps down from that...they were basically punching loose strings.

I've always wanted to like them but... I'd rather listen to Mongolian music or actual Tibetan musicians... And then there is always eagle twin if you need your Utahan throat singing jazz doom

Yeah, I was either going to guess Conan or maybe Slomatics for super low tuning bands with your description of the riffage.
I came across that Phurpa video last year. It was interesting enough for one listen. Forgot about Eagle Twin. I think I listened to their first album once and that was really it.

If saying this or that band sucks helps you to get up and write your own amazing songs then I guess you should keep it up. If some of you guys can't seem to find joy and inspiration when listening to a band like YOB then I feel bad for you because every time I see them live I get inspired to improve my writing.

This album (and Ahab in general) is so fucking best.
