Sorry for any thread derailment. Still spring related so it's cool right?
i love my empress reverb for many reasons but spring is far from the best that pedal offers. given the nature of empress's desire to expand on their new big box reverb and delay i think that can change in the future. right now i always end up going to a different reverb sound despite my desire to have a spring sound going on. i think the modulation modes sound really good too! the flanger reverb is great, but i wish it went a little slower. the tremolo verb is definitely a mode i've spent a decent chunk of time in, really fun controlling the rate with expression.

in terms of something really simple control wise, the neunaber exp stuff is what i always gravitate to. i love how simple the controls are, i love that you can set different mix tapers (like setting the effect to be louder than the dry signal but you don't lose any dry signal), i really like the tap tempo set up too. and plus they are super versatile. i have had my slate set to the echelon echo algo for a few months now and i never want to turn it off. it sounds really great as a pre-fuzz delay because of the aforementioned mix tapering, you can still get some attack cutting through the washiness of long repeats.
Cool! I hadn't even considered the neunabar stuff. Do you ever find it annoying to hook up to your computer? I guess you probably just do that once every long while.
Spring is probably the mode I will use the least, so the empress still seems the most tempting, but I'm still undecided.

not really! like you just said i don't change algorithms all that much so i don't mind. it's really easy to do, as simple as loading the program, hooking up the usb and clicking the algorithm, setting the virtual trim pots if you want. the exp pedal is pretty cool if you want to have multiple algorithms, but i flipped it because you can't actually save real presets as any change in the knob position overwrites at any movement. but i think the dudes at disaster area just made a midi based exp pedal that solves that issue. i just like to use it as a simple pedal that i know i could use differently when i need to. awesome jack of all trades for delay/verb/mod.

and the empress is such an awesome reverb, i would recommend that to anyone. they are going to be adding a multi track looper to it soon too! always worth a try, you could flip it for close to what you paid for it still.

Or maybe I just need a delay. That's actually probably the answer.
Fwiw, I tend to prefer boss dm2>dirt over rv3>dirt for many situations.

That said, I'm gassing hard for rm-n1

And we're back. So I got an RV-3 and it's awesome but I only use it for delay. I'm not crazy about the reverb on it. I still want springs!

I'm thinking about buying Jwars Uverbia but I'm not sure I need real springs. I just want the splash in a cheapish package. If I don't get the Uverbia I want something with no volume drop or a dedicated volume knob, adjustable decay, and maybe a tone knob. No predelay if possible.

Anyone played with the Topanga or the subdecay spring reverb?

I'm thinking about the Dunk Tank too but the single knob makes me hesitant.

Spring mode on RV-5, pre dirt, works for the Raveonettes....

The splash is too weird and cheesy on that. It doesn't seem like it's responding to the person's playing in the demo I saw. Just random splashes here and there.

Any thoughts on the DigiTech hardwire reverb?

LAST GASP Transroom sounds awesome to me but my days of spending $150 plus for a pedal are over. I like reverbs that sound like "the room is melting" or a filling with toxic waste. Any ideas? Lately I like the idea of running one of my four awesome reverbs into a modulated echo or reverb into chorus. I have an RM1 and that is more like 'the western front' reverb. Different kind of nasty. Anyone have some ideas for far out liquid lightning?

Friends of mine have the Subdecay, Spring Chicklet and Hardwire verbs, so those are the ones I've heard/tried. Spring Theory I'd rate the highest, room setting w/ max decay on that one is beautiful. Chicklet after that (it's pink!) and then the Digitech is the most polished sounding and most versatile I guess, if you prefer that.

I just band wagoned and put a bid on Ebay for an RV3. If it exceeds $80, I'm out....

I like the Hardwire's spring setting. It's not as nice as the real springs on my Vox AC15 but that's to be expected.
Easy enough to tame it with the decay and liveliness controls. Sounds good with Bass VI, guitar, synths, and drum machines so I can't see myself ever letting it go.

Plus you get that reverse reverb mode. :)*

I've been outbid. I'm relieved cause I actually REALLY did not want that pedal.

I have the chicklet and it's great. Can verge on oscillation when pushed.
Bought two of them for cheapish a while back but one didn't work right, sadly.

Lies!

I have one but I don't use the reverb on it. Just the delay settings.
