The CV control makes me want to plug this unit into an EHX 8-step. :animal:

I'm drooling over the idea of using the Env+ on the Protostar to control the gains or mix on the Brothers.

That seems like it'd be amazing. :!!!:

I'm pretty excited to hear this in real life. And with bass.

Wonder if there are any internal bias pots. Woulda been great on the outside... when I look at this thing, it's the one omission that jumps out.

Based on previous bedals, there will be, but messing with them will be discouraged.

I've got the Manifold and Acceleron that dude talks about in the intro vid. Both of them get hella gnarly into a clean amp. The Acceleron is too much in a good way into a dirty amp, in a good collapsing gain stage kind of way--drop'n'swells on note attack, kazoo tones at some settings, and best of all that endless crumbling like your last riff triggered the killer sink hole of all time under the rec center rehearsal space.

Manifold is similar but lower gain so less fireworks, but does get fuzzy itself @ the top of the dial. Seem like excellent candidates for fancypants routing and I do. I ain't going there b/c I've already invested in open ended series/parallel stacking/blending, but this seems a smart play for those interested in such in a compact format, and no offense to Empress b/c I love those people, way better sounding than the Multidrive.

I've got to be honestly. Most of the Chase Bliss stuff has been less than appealing to me because of how overwhelming it is. I dug it all, but I didn't like how they operate. I'm not into the whole dipswitch thing on modulation. My favorites have been the Wombtone, Gravitas and v.1 Warped Vinyl (I dig it more than v.2..not sure why), but I never really dive in.

This however is something I would dive into. I am a dirt guy and always have been. The idea of having a boost/drive/fuzz with so many options is super appealing to me. Just being able to chose between series and parallel is amazing. I meant it's got what, 6 channels? That sounds killer to me. The demo wasn't what I wanted to hear, but it did indicate to me that I want this bad. I have been looking for a fuzz that will fit several bills for awhile and I think this might. I'll reserve my opinion until I see how it play on active basses, but I'm pretty pumped to try it. I don't dig the price point, but I get it.

For those wondering how much of the gain is from the amp, I emailed Joel yesterday about something else and mentioned that was a question from this thread (how much of the gain in the vid was from the amp).

He said he had the New Vintage amp turned really clean, so he takes it as a big compliment that people were asking if the amp was already dirty.

So yeah - should be a really dirty, sick pedal!

Also, there's this!

I will say though, I wish they had stripped this one down a bit and done away with the dips, MIDI and exp. I could just be doing it wrong, but I can't picture what modulating gain and tone values adds. Maybe wah-type effects with modulating tone and trem like effects modulating master vol?

It could be used as an extra setting with a footswitch. :idk: Or to increase the gain smoothly for gainy swells. They are not Lfo controlled if that's what you're asking.

Yeah, the few clips all have the same character, so I have strong faith this is mainly the pedal sound. Excited to hear more.

I dunno, I reckon this is kinda stripped down for chase bliss stuff. Like there's no mod source (LFO+Ramp like his other pedals) on the actual pedal, and he could have thrown that on for weirdness. Exp is mad for fine tuning parameters on the fly or for going whacky for those who want it. You could probably exp vol and gain to induce feedback and stuff. Could be mad.

If you want a stripped down version then there's the two Resonant electronic pedals (manifold and acceleron) that this thing shares some circuitry with. They are as stripped down as they come while being tonal "brothers"...

Thanks for clarifying about the new vintage amp, that makes this seem super fucking gnarly.

I guess it doesn't matter if it's stripped down or not. I've already sold off my underwhelming OD pedals to make room, so obviously it's not a deterrent for me! Just trying to swallow that $350 tag for a gain pedal.

Which raises another question from me: what do you think about this vs. the Elektron Analog Drive? Or is that another thread?

Lastly - Inconuucl, when I see your posts and imagine what you look like, I just see a man happily eating a candy bar from your signature.
