FUCK, YES! This is one I forgot to add. Want is one of the my favourite albums of the last five years and this release was a decent followup. I'm intrigued by metal that varies its instrumentation and downplays or abandons guitars.

You've got the generic Roland swell, the breathy female vocals in desperate need of a de-esser and a little more reverb, and the sparse 'beat' driven by the 'is it voices or is it MIDI (hint: it's MIDI) -- all prerequisite -- and then... nothing? It's like the dude doesn't have enough confidence in the vocal performances or his soundscaping to make a real 'ambient' track but he doesn't think he can make a techno track that isn't super generic (like listen to the intro of New Romantic and tell me that's not just a generic choral pad and a 'my first Ableton beat') so he decided to make a bunch of Massiv Attack covers and then delete the elements that would make you go "oh, this guy really likes Massive Attack (i.e. the subsonic bass), so you get this 'unfinished backing track' vibe for the whole record.
I mean, the title track is one of the weakest tracks in my opinion, and not in the style of the rest of the album at all really, so I won't argue on your assessment there same with the first track, but the rest if the album is great in my opinion. The beats on Over and On My Mind specifically get me dancin real good

Im not really sure what i bought this year that actually came out this year and wasn't a sarcofago reissue. I will say there are a couple things I'm stoked on or was stoked on or whatever:
New Dir En Grey single

new psalm zero
new planes mistaken for stars
the new CHTHE'ILIST was really good
the mare cognitum/aureole split
the BLACKPINK single
new alcest
i think the body did something this year i kinda liked??
new goth-trad
new sturgil simpson
new fates warning
new harakiri for the sky
new inquisition
new les discrets
new swans
new thy catafalque
Things i was upset by or just didn't care about:
new cobalt
new sumac
new tobacco was kinda whatever
the new cl single was garbage
I thought the new big business wasn't that great
Things I'm really tired of and need to go away:
rap, edm, baronness
Unpopular contrarian opinion of the year:

My pick for "best waterfall headbang" at 1:21 and "best through-the-legs-laying-down-moonwalk" at 2:29. BLACKPINK is also my pick for "best use of plastic surgery" and "best almost racist pow wow dance" of 2016. Also shoutouts to VETEMENTS for shittiest brand of 2016... so congrats Gosha.

EDIT: Also man I may be jumping the gun here but Im just going to go ahead and give LALISA the SR awards for "most obvious breast implants", "biggest plastic surgery transformation", and "Spacey's Kpop crush of the year" for 2016 . Congratulations Lisa and try not to dance too hard, you don't want to bust an implant!
That about wraps up the KPOP awards here at Space Central. Shoutouts to CL for the worst single I've heard since the GDxT.O.P. linkin park thing they did. You've really got to respect the south koreans for their advancements in practically manufacturing their pop stars. Pretty soon they'll be growing them in labs! See you guys next year. Same Space time, same Space channel.

Also, Spacey, pretty sure South Korea (real Korea) and Japan are 3D bio-printing their idols over animatronic robot frames now.
Insert old Fear Factory that doesn't suck here.
Actually, didn't Fear Factory put a record out this year?
That probably sucked?
WWPD?
