Did they not get investigated by both the CIA and IRS, attempt to bribe their way out and then have to disband the organisation, only to move onto dealing cocaine back to cartels in the next season?
Yeah they (the show writers) kinda coped out of the ISIS name by writing in the CIA investigation and everything, but Archer Vice and everything after have been so goddamn funny that you don't even miss it. Still one of my favorite shows.

Jwar, go for Cult of Luna, absolutely :) Salvation, Vertikal or Mariner would be my first choices

I mean it was probably watching the whole record live but SOTH really grew on me. Initially, though, Salvation was the record that made me go "oh, ok, they don't just sound like Isis"

I also really like The Beyond, maybe more than Salvation even

I checked out The Ocean, didn't like it, too proggy for me man. I used to listen to a lot of the bands mentioned here, but now I don't as much. Guess I growed up and the old man emo got me.

Hey, but jwar, here's an album I would recommend :

Selling heroine and human slavery aren't enough to keep an economy afloat these days?

Vice is just the most badass, funny as fuck thing they could have done with that show.
It was the right move.

Jwar, Honour Found in Decay was the last record Neurosis put out and I still play it religiously. DoS is right though when he says those things he does.
Pelican's Australasia is the fucking business.
Maybe have a look at some Minsk and things like that?

Would honestly get this tattoo.

Also, Pelican is pretty fucking good, Pelican Drummer Problem* aside. Australasia is incredible, ditto The Fire In Our Throats. Any version of "March Into The Sea" is one of the best songs in the genre.

Did we talk about Red Sparowes/Emma Ruth Rundle in this thread yet? Walks the line between post-rock and -metal.

*The Pelican Drummer Problem: the listenability of Pelican increases proportionately as Larry Herwig's ability to play in time decreases.

I'd personally avoid the last two Neurosis records because I dislike them quite a lot :idk:

Dude, what?
I know liking a band's latest offering isn't as hip as saying, "you're old shit is better", but to be perfectly honest, Neurosis get better with every record.
If you're still gonna refute that, go see them play that material live and then report back.
It is as solid as anything they've ever done.
The cult of the Sun-Worshipping Survivalist Man Warriors is only becoming more refined and bleak with age.
It is a beacon of awesome in an otherwise mediocre world.

It seemed quite boring, although Honor Found has a couple great tracks or at least moments :idk: Haven't seen them live, I admit, I could have done that at Roadburn but that's too rich for my blood, plus school and shit intervened...

I'd put on any Cult of Luna over the last two Neurosis albums any day :idk: I'm a fan of the mid-career Neurosis, i.e. Through Silver in Blood, Times of Grace, The Sun That Never sets and Through Eye of Every Storm. And Sovereign.

Also Times of Grace to me has such an unfitting sound for them... makes it way too mellow and nice and run-of-the-mill... Although I do appreciate it sounds very much like a live recording, which it must be because Albini.

to me, it's lacking the immediacy and intensity of the previously mentioned favourites :idk: but I will listen to both now as I need to translate product info for new brands I'm starting to carry ;)

I'm arguing more intensity than "mid career" records, but to be honest the two notions of "neurosis" and "intensity" are so intertwined I feel like we're talking finite degrees of difference perceptible on a sub atomic level.

This is how I fan boy.

Dudes it's just not working out for me :idk:

I don't know why, what went wrong. It just seems lackluster in some respect and I can't get into it. It's like... "okay" but Neurosis shouldn't be "okay" :idk:

Yeah, I feel that, but I'd say this ties back into having to see the new material live to really understand where it fits in their cannon.

ALSO WE COULD HAVE BEEN ROADBURN BREAUX!
