Why is this a six-Picard statement? It's absolutely true. Like, I don't even understand why this is fodder for this thread.
Clearly.

Wait-what?
Real quote, although it may have included "and surely not shrooms" as well?

Ok guys we hit a little bit of a lull there but 2016 is still young and the gift keeps on giving.

casecandy wrote:I'm not gonna lie, I saw Collective Soul live in 2006 and they were pretty decent. They didn't have a string section so the guy used amp feedback to simulate the sound of strings for "World I Know."
The following songs are pretty decent: "World I Know," "Why Pt. 2," "Where The River Flows," "Shine," "Heavy," it's just such gratuitous bonehead hockey-game-intermission riff rock, and I love that. It is what it is. It allows itself to just be the platonic ideal of music that people learned how to play on silver Ibanez guitars in rural trailer parks in the late '90s after they'd moved on from Nirvana but weren't quite ready for Coal Chamber and Hed PE yet. And that's okay. Good, even.
Also they were, like, one of the very first "Are they a Christian band? Or not Christian and just have lyrics about God and stuff?" alternarock bands and that's a long, proud tradition at this point. "We're Christians in a band" mmhm okay
I'm with Jwar on this one

That was the 2015 edition: aka "How the fuck is 'urban radio' racist?" which is probably still the most single-handedly clueless thing I've ever heard in a discussion by someone who purports to know anything about music.
casecandy wrote:Underoath are one of those bands whose music is so incredibly personal for me that I don't even talk about them, really, other than a quick recommendation or nod. Never a defense when dissed. You don't like them? Fine, that's your opinion. It's really cool! All that matters is that they're there for me. I have so much invested in that music emotionally.

You know what... I may say stupid stuff, but hey, you're talking about it! I'd rather have the controversy than respect.
I realized that recently while listening to a sick vaportrap DJ mix on YouTube. A e s t h e t i c is important, guys.
Also.
I stand by EVERYTHING in those last few posts, 100%, without a hint of irony.
Especially this:
Like 100% of Canadian rock bands, their regional flavour was their strength.
You could even paraphrase it to say:
Like 100% of New Jersey rock bands, their regional flavour was their strength.
