Thanks for posting that echorec; that was fascinating! A shame there aren't more of his recordings - and what a terrible shame he never got to hear them. It's a bit like Sergei Prokudin-Gorskii, a 19th century Russian photographer who invented a very early form of colour photography but could never find a way to print the photos in colour on paper (he had invented colour slides) but still kept taking photos convinced that one day someone would discover how to print his photos... sadly he died before that happened. Some people are just born before their time I guess.

Prokudin-Gorskii's digitized images are such a splendid fever dream.

----Louis Le Prince and Ada Lovelace are two that will always stick out to me, but largely due to their more recent departures. Rewind the clock even a few centuries and there's no telling how many would-be pioneers' unfulfilled ambitions we've likely lost forever.
