It wouldve been really easy to add the current play once feature as a dipswitch for the stop button. Press it one to end playback when loop ends, press twice to end it immediately.

Though, it would be cool if they updated it to work that way.

Actually dude, I tried that on mine and I'm SURPRISED but it worked! You have to give it a good couple taps, maybe even three, to get it to do what you want. You kinda have to treat it like a real tap tempo. It's not SPOT ON, but it works. To do faster ones, you can just to a quick CLICKCLICK and it will be super fast. Then if you give it a good slow three CLICK ------------ CLICK ------------ CLICK ------------ HOLD... it will do it at a much slower tempo.

That function is actually pretty brilliant. I was miffed that it was seemingly only one rate but this fixes it!

NOW

NOW

...if they'll just update the goddamn ONCE feature to do one-shot, this would be the best looper in the UNIVERSE (for me at least).

Come on friends! Let's all join Pop and e-mail TC and be annoying and tell them to update the ONCE to one-shot!
Ok, I got it to work... interesting. The reason I didn't see it before is because there is definitely a limit on how small the sample held is - it will not go into the Raptio/Revolver ms territory - but I put a 4-beat sequence in and I could Tap Tempo to catch every 1, 2, 3, or 4 notes - pretty cool, it just can't replace a Raptio lol.

What's funny is the response I got from Stefan at TC Support on FB when I asked about it:
"You can't adjust the length of the hold FX. It simply catches a random pattern and then repeats it over and over again."

The hitting once (or play on the timeline) and getting the loop to repeat from the beginning feature is called "Re-Trigger" by Strymon and "Stutter" by Boomerang. Boomerang Manual calls Once a "one-shot" play to the loop end. I think for clarity of what is happening it should be called "Re-trigger"

Jesus TC, get your shit straight. I don't wanna complain about a new piece of gear, especially one I really like, I just wish they could have some consistency with their support.

As far as I'm concerned, if they can release a Re-Trigger (thank you) patch for Once, it will be an unbeatable looper.

I don't have a Facebook, but maybe I could get A REALLY GOOD FRIEND to post something about Re-Trigger Once on their page. ;)

I just spent like 3 hours jamming with the ditto x4. Man that is a good looper. I agree with the sentiment is hat making the play once a retrigger would make it fucking amazing. It's almost too much looper for my tiny dumb brain. @n@

Altough I'm already planning an alien Orchestra bit for my Instagram using the ditto, a pitch Shifter, an ebow and my slide. :snax:

Could anyone tell me how to midi with the ditto x4?
I has an akai mpx8 controller, do I need a midi box to make it compatible with pedals? I get the basic idea of midi but it's still quite alien to me.

Basically if I can control the fx with a controller that would be greaaaat

No one knows. There's no manual (yet).

Poop. Well it's a cool looper but I feel slightly underwhelmed. Such as if I lay a loop down, then reverse and record something over it, that overdub is also in reverse. Was kind of hoping it worked like the DL4 instead. Also not being able to individually add effects to each loop is kind of frustrating.

Kind of just miss my DL4 and M9

Wait really? The x2 didn't work like that, if you recorded over a reversed loop the new record would be forwards. So then when you reversed it again the new layer would be the one that's reversed.

Yeh I'm little confused. Unless I'm just that sleep deprived and doing something stupid

Can you record the speed/octave change during a loop? I mean, if you are recording and playing and hit the half speed effect, then stop recording, will the loop automatically play back the speed shift as part of the loop? Some loopers won't. I don't think you can do that on the Boomerang, but my memory is cloudy on that now. Elevenstrings, please set me straight.

you can definitely record something in reverse, then flip it and record a forward part over the reverse part - then when you hit reverse the two parts swap. same with half/double speed.

Though, I did discover what Casavettes is talking about over the weekend.

The difference is if you have NOTHING recorded and you have the FX on. So you turn on an fx like Half speed (or reverse or double speed) .... when I hit record, then close the loop, whatever I was playing immediately jumps down an octave/reverses/doubles... on the Ditto x2 (and how it is on the Boomerang) is if you hit half/reverse before you record, then you record something and close the loop, the loop plays as you just played it... then when you turn off half speed/ reverse, then it switches reverse or goes up an octave.... that's how you get high-pitched parts.

However, as it now, only Overdub works that way. I would call this a bug.

Yeh scratch that I'm just dumb. You can do this on overdubbing.

Thanks elevenstrings. If I understand correctly it does not record the actual speed change during recording, but instead will apply the speed change at the close of the recorded loop.

It seems super strange to me to push the pedal out without a manual.
