Surely with the separate boards it shouldn't be too hard to rehouse in a bigger enclosure if a smaller enclosure doesn't end up working out. Like a 1790 or something? Fair bit of space to work with in there.

If everyone is ok with a 1790 then this is wayyy easier. I just assumed most would want them as small as possible.

I mean the momentary oscillation button added to the DE7 is wishful thinking. I know it probably isn't an easy modification.
How should the knobs be? More functional?
Delay time and feedback knobs closer to the edge so I can roll them with my foot?

I think delay and feedback towards the edges and volume in the middle would work well for that. I'd be ok with a 1790 case too, but I don't really care about real estate.

As great of a bang for the buck the DE7 is, I'm not sure its worth going through the trouble of rehousing it
Value for money whise its great and all, but imo there's just too many sweet delay pedlols out there to spend 20 bucks or whatever on having a de7 rehoused

Im not sure what a memory boy or es2 wouldb cost used, but its worth checking imo...

I've been curious about these pedals because the idea of chargeable pedals would be sweet to have on a small grab and go board.

From what I've heard, the ES2 is very shoddy. An old bandmate of mine had one for a minute and said to avoid them. His quit working for no reason at all.

Memory boy seems ok. I don't really keep up with EHX stuff. I don't really care for modulated delays either. The DE7 just has a certain sound that I really enjoy. Maybe I'm just an idiot haha.

I think you misunderstand this thread.

The de7 is a REALLY good basic delay that just happens to be affordable.
Im assuming most of us who want a rehouse don't mind putting the money into upgrading the parts to last a bit longer...

I would just pull the pots and attach new ones to that daughter board. There's no way to keep this cheap if I have to make new boards and rewire every little thing.

Surely you meant to say $200, not $20?
$20 would be a steal to rehouse this, considering parts/enclosure alone cost more than that.

Didnt misunderstand anything, the title/op asked about replacing the de7. Which again, is an awesome pedal, but I dont see the harm in suggesting it might make more sense to just look for something else rather than going for a pricey upgrade operation that costs more than...well, two fresh de7's

Which doesnt mean you guys cant investigate the best way to rehouse the pedal, its all the same to me

I am kinda wishing I held onto my first beat up DE7 so I could try this myself. Certainly not going to be hacking up my nice pristine DE7, that's for sure!

I reckon someone savvy will need to bite the bullet and just do one as a proof of concept to see whats involved. Have at it!
