I just got done teaching a class and was going to guess MTB but alas, was beaten to it.

I'm surprised at some of the guesses for the one that ended up being MTB, because The Chariot, Norma Jean, and Brand New have no synthesizers.
Anyway, here's two.
1. Sweaty, bipolar über-
mensch settles down, finds Jesus, never quite follows up that operatic debut.
2. If it wasn't for 9/11, they'd've never existed. If it wasn't for some tone-deaf kid in his basement, they'd've never existed. If it wasn't for their one song about vampires being released at the height of pop-cultural vampire mania, they'd've never become famous. And yet... they existed. They were famous. They are gone now, anyway.
