I'm going to see Thou at 1234Go! tomorrow. That should be overkill for what I recall is a tiny show space behind the shop.

Think part of my problem was the first real band I played out heaps in, I was using a Marshall MG100hd, then a 50 watt jubilee, with one of the fastest, hardest hitting grind drummers I've ever played with. Could never keep up with him in terms of volume, and I've been overcompensating for it (and other things) ever since.

I have a Twin Reverb and this shitty Crate 4x12 I got for $200. They sound pretty good at lower volumes, but I wish I had better/more amps. I just don't have any money.
Currently I've gotten really into bass frequencies, too, so I push them so fuckin' hard that I half expect everything to just explode one day. Especially after I built a DBA Evil Filter which accentuates bass frequencies like crazy.
Also, with this new band/electronic duo thing I'm doing I only use the Twin Reverb for guitar because we have so many instruments that we're trying to control at once and not a lot of amps.
