That's one of those "throw a tablecloth over it when you're not playing" situations I think.
Just reading that I can already tell it's one of those things that will occasionally pop into my head over the next few days and agitate me
I'll probably wake up in the middle of the night, wake my wife up and say "I'll buy an amp no matter what it looks like!"
That bassman deal sounds like it would have been so good (although they can get fairly dirty if you want, but such a pretty dirty)
I feel like when dealing with someone super picky but doesn't really seem to know what they want a Twin is going to be the best bet. Just tell them their favorite guitarists used them at some point. It's probably true.

Yeah I moved all my amps into my closet and put all the guitars I don't use in their cases and slid under the bed before my girl visits next week... She respects it, but It's gotten excessive in the past couple months.
Well... We've been 99% sure a SF Twin is the amp he wants. Just gotta wait for one to pop up.
Apparently he has some shitty low wattage Egnater head, the matching cab, and a Sunn beta cab. Idk if it's a 4x10 combo missing the head unit or one of those badass staggered 4x12s though.
A MusicMan is a good suggestion but they tend to get harsh and too trebly when you stay clean with them. I loved the 212 sixty-five I had in the family, sounded great cranked and overdriven and little too harsh when clean and loud.
And I just saw an ad for that new model of Fender Hot Rod. Has my interest, but from my experience with them. They don't have enough wattage to stay all that clean. This new one though, worth checking out I suppose.

And call it a day.
Or Showman if you want it on a head format.

Dem reissue BF Fenders have no headroom at 65 watts. They start breaking up around the time you get them to playing volume. After having a '65 Super Reverb I learned the hard way that "clean" amps aren't all that clean. And I started my foray into Sunn amps.

Well, I didn't know those reissues are 65W, and I just grabbed the first TR I got from google lol.
I play a 68 SF and it stays clean no matter where the volume pot is, I do get a slightly break around ~8 but I think that's coming from the EV speakers.

'68 is an odd year for Fender. Lots of those amps are still BF circuits but in chassis with SF control plates.
Sounds like your Twin is an exception though.
