Pope: I honestly don't think they intended to sound like that. I really think they thought they were being "fresh" and "revolutionary" in their approach to country or something. Just self-absorbed LA trust fund kids that were really in their own little bubble. I just always found it weird that some people never explore music or go to shows and just instantly think they know everything/make gold everytime (in the Yanni sense) because of what they read in Spin (does that still exist?).

And I saw Against Me last summer. Only because they played before Boris. This drunk lady, my wife, and I had a long conversation about how awful it was before Boris came on (and we had avoided most of the show trying to find management to see why cola was outlawed from the show because of a stance against High Fructose Corn Syrup, but they sold Red Bull...even got some of the vendors to question because they wanted to bring their organic cane sugar sodas...masking event sponsors with political activism haha but yea, kind of a boring festival). They are a terrible band that marketed on a little bit of political lyrics around the time all that stuff was popular. So you like them, CC, but not everyone has to like them too.

I'm not getting into another genre debate though. It was just a fun story.
