 you're my first. dibs. caller. ever. :yay:

Could be soon--I'll let you know. I have to roust up the adapter. This has sat around a long time, in theory to be XP1000ed, but I'm willing to admit that ain't gonna happen on my watch....

Definitely some other good choices out there...sounds to me like you might want to look more closely at an RRR....

This is what I've used: RRR, Procession, Digiverb, RV-3, Holy Grail. Flipped the RRR because the decay wasn't looooong enough. Flipped the Procession because of the volume boost. Flipped the RV-3 to buy the RRR. Still have the Digiverb. Out of those, I think I liked the RV-3 most, and I think I have the same amount of love for the Digi and the RRR. Downside of the RV-3 is the volume drop when you activate it, but you can EASILY work around it. The Digiverb has a volume drop that is a little disappointing, but I really like it. A lot. Hall mode is super awesome and has a beautiful decay. If you can get one for $50 or less I HIGHLY recommend it. Also: PumpkinPieces is all about it too. He seems like a cool guy.

Zombie Thread!

Anyone tried a Matthews Effects Astronomer? Over the past few months, I've been through a Hall of Fame, Meteore, Procession, and BitQuest trying to find a reverb that I like, and that's versatile enough for me to use as an always on, or cranked for ambience. I realize this is probably fixed by another reverb pedal or multiple delays, but I like keeping my board pretty small.

Anyways.

I've been looking at the RRR, Hungry Robot Stargazer, and Matthews Effects Astronomer here for the past few days, but can't find many people who have experience with the Astronomer.

So, anyone? :poke:

don't worry about starting a new thread for these things. 2016 is really the year of the necrobump

If I was you I'd look at an RV-3 maybe. I pretty much keep my el cap, with the reverb cranked pretty high on al the time and I love it for an "always on" type reverb. I had a ehx cathedral before that did both at a very satisfying level. Got knocked off by my eventide space that does anything the cathedral does, but better and plus a fuckton of more features.

The Astronomer looks cool, but personally I don't like shimmer at all

I hate shimmer unless I'm playing a specific type of music, which is why the Bitquest and Procession didn't do it for me. Even though those aren't technically "shimmer" verbs, the metallic sound really drives me crazy if I'm playing anything other than ambient, looping stuff.

I actually like to use my Black Fountain as a pseudo reverb since it's so murky.

I think I just hate reverb. (I love reverb). Maybe that's my problem.

Definitely not the Context, it sounds fine but it has a volume drop on higher mix / longer decay settings.

Ok, while we're all necromancing : I can get a Boss RV-3 for a decent price (would be about $70 I guess). I've got a Context and a Dispatch Master already but I'm building a few setups as separate instruments and if I get another reverb for my small keyboard setup I can dedicate the Context to process the modular... I've read all I could about the RV-3 and watched some videos. I suspect that being a Boss pedal it handles loud signals pretty well, right ? Any bad things to be aware of apart from that small cut when engaging the effect ? Or should I just grad that pedal while it's still available ? :animal:

I might have gotten too many things recently, even if each one was pretty cheap (two Boss PS-3,Maxon bi-mode chorus, Pearl phaser, Yamaha CMOS overdrive) and I've actually been trying to focus my setup but this would actually end up being used... Well, at least I haven't bought anything for the modular in more than a year :erm: .

$70 for a RV-3? Grab that shit immediately. Like I don't care about what questions you posed (although you don't have to be concerned, I play mine with modular all the time.)

Ah, that RV3 is apparently currently on hold. Well, if I'm lucky I'll still get it but it's not sure :(.
