i still like watching it though :) especially the last one... i mean common, there was a more desert rock focus than i expected there to be

Anyway I've watched a couple of these and the bits without foo fighters in them are awesome. Although kinda weird that they're travelling around the country going to all these studios and enlisting the experience of all these legendary musicians...and making songs that just sound like the rest of the foo fighters ;)
It does seem a bit bitter, but I'm still not convinced he's a 100% dead serious about everything in it. I do think Grohl/ the foo fighters is a bit too omnipresent for his own good these days. But then again, he probably was in or is connected to a fair deal of 'great' rock outfits in recent years, so he did work his way up there.

I watched that desert rock one like three times because HBO just kept playing it while I was home. Really, really enjoyed it.
I even enjoyed the country one a lot and I'm not a country fan. Although, I guess I should really say I'm not a modern country/really just pop fan

So the latest episode was awesome until they started their song at the end.
I have a weird connection with New Orleans music; their passion and connection to music is so damned inspiring
New Orleans is a place I must visit (for an extended period) before I die

I really haven't been trying to rag on the Foo Fighters that much here because I do respect them, but when they started playing at the end I just got mad.
Seriously, the entire episode was about the New Orleans vibe and how special their music is but the only reason I would even know that there are New Orleans musicians in that song, is because I just watched an episode where they were recording it :grumpy:

didn't want to start a new foo thread and found this one............. I picked up sonic highways on i-tunes recently and have watched every minute.
I have never owned a foo fighters album but the idea of all that music history just seemed super sweet

going through the punk history and some of the artists they interviewed along with the fact that regardless of how much I like the songs at they end, they actually play the instruments, and watching the recording process they seem to have an integrity about them

grohl is flipping talented,
and I try not to react to foo fighters like "hey it sucks cause it's not nirvana"

I like the guitar layering on alot of the songs, and this is weird but the music kinda sounds like home.
I also feel like their is a tremendous respect their for the history of music which is sweet

I thought the seattle episode was awesome, It kinda confronted alot of pretty heavy emotional stuff
brought back a ton of good and bad memories

Just watched my first episode of Sonic Highways - in Seattle. Really dug it. I spent a good part of my teens there during that time so it really struck a chord and choked me up in a few parts.

Then they played that lame ass song at the end. :barf: Dave seems like a cool dude, but I prefer everything he does outside of the Foos.

I'm with Mudfuzz 100% on this. I do like the Probot stuff I've heard (the King Diamond song and the one with Snake from Voivod  ). And Songs for the Deaf is tight. Not into FF at all

Will definitely check it out. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that Lemmy is on that album. Didn't one of the songs feature Tom G. Warrior? Or am I thinking of something else?
