Photo dump time

Initial sanding completed

Body drying after raising the grain to sand again

Coat 1.5 of gray stain. Did an initial stain that I wiped away after about 2-3 minutes, then applied a second coat and am letting it fully dry

After wiping off the last of the stain this is what it looks like. I dig it. I think I'm going to leave it like this. After about 6 more hours I'll apply poly.
In the meantime I'm going to build!

Came out looking nice, liking that gray. Definatly no transparent finish going on with my new project, lmfao.

Yep, it showed up. Got her stripped but may be delayed on further work, as I got a trace of a tele deluxe pickguard and the route shows just slightly between pickguard and bridge. So its gonna need some of that route filled. Using a bridge from a squier 51, and that seems to almost cover all gapping.

Funds would've been available, but a sunn concert lead just popped up on my radar for $100, but needs an updated power chord and a cap job, don't think I'm gonna be able to pass on that, so may put the tele on hold for a few weeks and work on the sunn, while I think of ways to fill some of that route. As of right now I'm thinking a small piece of birch ply, some sanding shavings, wood glue, and then some bondo to tie it all in and flush with the body.

Awesome!

Not much news here other than I drilled the holes for the pickguard and control plate. The Allparts pickguard was a little wonky in a few places (heel, around the control plate) but after some light dremel work I got both of them squared away soundly.

I started applying poly yesterday, did three top coats and started on the back with it's first. It'll have 3 coats by the end of the night, then I'll do the sides 3x. I'm thinking I'm just going to keep it really light and not do more than the 3 coats

So I got the poly done and let it dry for a full 24 hours, and got the pickguard and control plate attached after finishing the humbucker wiring yesterday.

For kicks I took the neck of my other Telecaster off of it and threw it onto this body and man was it awesome. I can't wait for the Bass VI neck to show up.

I will concede that that looks totally badass in grey. You can build your next project in shell pink. :snax:

Totally! Reverse headstock FTW!

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'm really happy with how the body turned out as well. It was nice to try something new with this, using the wood filler. Such a smooth guitar body now
