best bypass: Visual Sound 'pure tone' buffered bypass
best footswitch: Visual Sound V2 series.

Visual Sound deserves hype imo.

Ro_S, I had a VS Angry Fuzz for a while before I really got into pedals... worst footswitch design ever in my opinion. Felt very difficult to turn on and off. No click, depression was too long, switch was just awkward. But like you said, the bypass sounded fine.

Of course this is all personal opinion.

i have no idea what kind of bypass it is but the switches on lastgasp pedals are awesome IMO. same with new dr scientist and hexe stuff. all brands that release awesome stuff that never disappoints however much hype.

those normal clicky 3PDT's drive me insane. I can't believe they're the standard for like 90% of boutique pedals.

3PDT get the job done. Clickless relay switching like in the Dr. Sci stuff requires a microcontroller and some extra parts to handle the switching. Cost benefit analysis for most small pedal builders suggests it is not going to help much to add that in considering the extra parts cost for each unit (assuming that the builder has the knowledge to program and setup the microcontroller). You can go buy clickless units already setup but that is going to add like $20 more dollars in parts per unit.

I've got mixed feelings on click vs clickless. Sometimes that firm click just adds something physical to engaging a pedal that clickless can't add. And I don't feel like I'll break the switch either.

There's a click for an OD or distortion at the beginning that's more audible with headphones, it's like a part of the song for me.
