Honestly I think Enter and Station sounded more like the post-rock crowd than the later albums. /shrug
I agree with Station for sure. I was introduced to Enter when Minus The Bear brought Russian Circles out on tour and they blew me away. The tapped guitar lines, amazing drumming, the sorta loose yet heavy song structures all sounded unique. Everything since (haven't heard new record) sounds more formulaic and boring and long and drawn out to my ears. Minimal excitement. Like most post-rock that erupted after the initial wave or two of awesomeness.

I get it tho, RC fans seem to split about 50/50 when the discussion of old vs new comes up.

If you enjoy Enter (which I obviously stated in my other post, discovered the other day and was flooored by), you might like one of my fave bands, Brontide! Their 2011 album Sans Souci is absolutely brilliant and they're done recording and mixing the new one and will release it before the end of the year, I hope!
ILF-ers are usually pretty into the artsy fartsy stuff, but in case you've missed 'em, here's their entire first album performed live. Give it a go! You won't regret it!

Fuck yeah Brontide! Found them after watching a studio cut from Rolo Tomassi actually.

I'm really digging this new record after a couple spins. Geneva and Station are still my favorites. But God damn this band never does wrong.

I saw Russian Circles open for Boris. It was a great time to grab a few drinks before Boris started. :)

Finally checked out new album, pretty cool, some great moments, tones, and a nice wall of sound going on throughout. Song structures seem slow and predictable for the most part but I still like it better than Empros mainly cuz it brings the heavy. That Chelsea Wolfe song sounds like an afterthought tho, kinda unneeded weak ending to a fair album.

Fairly consistent with the rest of her discography, then.

Agreed. I finally listened to her full lengths and that shit was sooooooo boring. I know a lot of peeps here love her but it just wasn't clicking for me.

Hey so I finally listened to this album all the way through.

It's pretty good. I like the part with the echo on the guitars and the fuzz on the bass.

No but actually it was rad. I like it a lot more than Emperos.
