The only thing that finally booted my Drasp'd DL4 was a Timeline because Strymon essentially took the DL4's looping functionality and expanded it to perfection. I woulda kept that thing around forever just for the looping abilities, no doubt.

I guess coming up on loopers like the DL4 makes these 1-stomp switch options a no-go for me. I can see how it could be useful on occasion but too much double-stomping/holding/etc involved. Looping is all timing and the 1-stomp models flub that up for me.

What's Drasp'ed? someone who modded it?

askthedust wrote:I work in an advertising agency. IMO it's a great piece of ad (fo the music gear industry at least) because for once it's based on a true insight : something that a certain category of people (ie : the target) will react to because they can relate to it. It's not meant to please everyone, because good advertising definitely isn't. It's like you're Volkswagen and you have a tiny 5000$ Indian made car to sell and you make an ad making fun of people spending ten times more to get big SUVs just to prove themselves something, and saying that smart people don't put all their money in their car. People who like big cars will get offended but they would never have bought your car in the first place. But your target will consider your product because they can relate to what you say. Here it's exactly the same : if you never looked at loopers because they seemed to complicated this ad will make you consider a looper that is unlike the others.
And the simple fact that a guitar pedal ad is discussed here proves they did a great job (I'm not even comparing it to this silly Bogner shit).

This is a good point, if you find an ad offensive that means you had a reaction to it. If you have a reaction to something you're more likely to remember it, which is more or less the goal of advertising.

And can the Timeline do everything that an El Cap can do? Interested in this over a DL4 if it makes looping easy AND has really great delay models.

Yeah, Dan Rasp, he upgrades and sexes up DL4s. The stomp switch and output buffer mods are absolutely necessary, the rest is great too. Especially the new powder coat options.....

Here's my old one:

It can loop easily but you need the DMC to access all the cool shit like reverse/half-speed/looper volume. I use the DMC-4 with mine and it's perfect.

I also love the fact that you can loop and cycle through delay modes simultaneously, comes in handy.

Wow that's amazing!
Anyone have a good video for how the line 6 DL-4's looping works?

I think clearly my board has to expand to have a dl4, a Timeline, and an Eventide TimeFactor with the outboard controllers for each.. That way I'll have all my bases covered.. :thumb:

That idea brought to you by:

No clue how midi works, and I've always avoided it because every time I wanna do something with midi it never works right.

Is it plug and play? Also, is the DMC-3 vs the 4 a big difference? What do the buttons do?

I imagine you program the buttons based on what you want them to do. MIDI is just a bunch of channels that you can send messages on. So if you want 4 different buttons you can use (guessing record, overdub, halftime/doubletime, stop?) you program those signals in as the four buttons.

It comes up short on the El Cap tones some say but I've only owned a TL. Less options in the dTape mode, maybe the multihead is the difference......can't remember. Sounds good to me tho.

Yeah, it's not cheap if your only after a looper but I really love the delays too, light years ahead of my DL4. The Lo-Fi even covers that Destroyer Mode everyone is raving about on the Mobius. It'll add the nasty AM radio tones via clock radio/megaphone/phonograph/cell phone/record scratch/etc settings so that's another awesome bonus! :thumb:

If I got a dl4, it'd be purely for looping and not delays :(

How does the m9 and m13 compare to the looping of the dl4? Want a dl4 for looping but if its nearly the same on an m9 I'd rather have the added functionality of the m9
