I'd love a Roland Bee Baa clone. Anyone know or recommend any decent clones?

I tried out a Black Cat Wee Buzz recently and thought it sounded fantastic. Not a straight clone, but pretty versatile for what it is.

I've been through a couple. The Barge Concepts Clone didn't do anything for me, sounded lifeless. I also had a home-made clone I got from a guy in Luxemburg, he says it's been built by the guitarist from The Datsuns. That one was pretty accurate in comparison to the OG one from the recording studio. I think the recording studio one didn't sound quite as starved as my own OG one, which I stupidly sold. I managed to talk Ghost Effect Ian into building one for me, I think he pretty much doesn't want to build another one because it was so much work. He did away with the two voicings on a switch and installed a blend circuit between these two (Like what Creepy Fingers Brad does on his Superfuzz).
Just like it always is with vintage circuits the two OG ones had their distinct characters. Mine was particularly starved/gnarly/gated sounding in low gain settings, I loved that but never got the sound out of another one of the circuits, not even the other original.

I never tried one of the Black Cats and I think Creepy also does a version. I'd like to see what our man Laowiz would do with the circuit. He'd probably be the one I'd trust with getting the sound I want.

As a bass player, my list would go a little something like this.

1. Prescription Electronics Depth Charge-has the best mix of fuzz and low end that I've heard in a pedal for bass. Very articulate.
2. Mountainking Megalith-Heavy, synth like fuzz of destruction. Will blow anything away that's on your board.
3. Audio Monk Fuzzpotion-Very heavy, loud and articulate as well. Lots of low end with this guy and again will blow your fucking brains out.
4. SS/BS TAFM-with or without gate does not matter. The TAFM loves basses and loves to be turned on and played with. heh. Seriously though. Amazing
5. Blackout Effectors Twosome-Versatile fuzz that can get very muffish to very articulate and it fucking sustains FOREVER. Seriously.
6. Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler-Holy fuck balls is this thing ballsy.

Meh...I can't think of ten. fuck it.

Going to add to my list.

7. Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh Supreme. God damn it Excane I'm a hypocrite.
8. Mountainking Magnetar
9. Industrialectric Square Wave Generator (actually should be a lot higher on the list here)-HOLY FUCK
10.

We'll leave 10 open for now.

If I have to have ten to rule them all, round out my list with stock, no mod Boss FZ-5s. And the "fuzz" built into the original POD.

It's for the best you don't make me pick 10, I am going to fill it out with garbage should I do that!

On the topic of Bee Baas, I have owned two of those that Phanta has owned. The original just blows any superfuzz variant out of the water, but clones tend to be a little quieter. Kinda a bummer.

BUUUT, Brad from CF said he'd build a PTP clone of the fuzz section for a pretty decent price. Which is nuts.

I definitely haven't tried ten fuzzes yet (and some that I have tried definitely won't make this list) but still.
In no particular order:

1. SS/BS TAFM
It just does so much right and nothing wrong. I've yet to find a setting that I have't liked. Seriously love this fuzz.
2. SS/BS Buzzz
Heavy. Just heavy
3. Fuzzhugger AB-Synth XS+
Extreme gain and oscillations = pure win
4. Fuzzhugger Algal Bloom
It fits literally anywhere and still sounds good
5. Infanem Second Voice dlx (haven't tried, but GASSSS)
6. Death by Audio Supersonic Fuzzgun (haven't tried)
7. DBA Apocalypse (haven't tried)
8. Fairfield Unpleasant Surprise (haven't tried)
9. Dwarfcraft the Great Destroyer (haven't tried)
10. EQD Terminal (haven't tried)

I really dislike DBA *- but I played an apocalypse in a studio and it was painfully good. Made me almost reconsider the [edit] hate...

*slipshod building, stupid prices, key features to make certain pedals useable missing either totally or until a later revision, unintelligible website(s - wtf??)

I'm not very well versed in fuzz. In fact, I'm totally ignorant on Germanium, I think.

Here's some fuzzes I use

Devi Ever Test Patter
Devi Ever Bit Mangler
Danelectro French Toast

And a few fuzzes I think I'd use

Blackout Effector Blunderbuss
EQD Tone Reaper
EQD Dream Crusher
Fox Calculator

well damn only seven

guess I need to do more research
Great dealings with: ryan summit, UncleGrandfather, Pizza, hbombgraphics, dangergirlstarship, Clockworker, kosta
