That looks pretty slick!

That's kinda how I view the ipad. :duck:

I feel the same way about the iPad as well. It comes to a point where a decision must be made if the investment is worth it or not and knowing a better product is already in the pipeline.

For some reason I also feel like buying digital guitar pedals is kinda the same thing, albeit not to the same degree. Take for example buying the new Mobius pedal from Strymon; you know damn well in like three years processors are going to be more powerful and they'll be able to harness even more algorithms and computations per second, etc.. The sounds will be digitally processed but sound even closer to analog (if that's what they're going for). I have an old Boss multi-effects pedal from the late 90's and that thing sounds like a POS.

Impaktor, I just downloaded it and Im in love. Of course it has certain limits and is probably not usable in a live setting, but it's real fun when sitting at home alone.

i have no interest in digital effects
after the nightmare i was in
with the fender mustang amp
i really just want a simple
recording software
so i can put songs together
the features they all come with
turn me off
the problem is i have no idea
how to get riffs from my amp
into the computer yet
im not askin for the answer to that
im just letting you guys know
how little experience i have recording
so im guessing whatever i record this winter
will be complete crap
but ill figure out what i need as i go along
what im not going to do
is plug directly into the ipad
and use modelled amps and effects
i just wish there was a thread in ilf
where you guys rap about home recording
and what gear you have and gas for
and where i can ask stupid questions

Samplr is real nice. I stopped using Borderlands when this came out. Borderlands kick-ass in its own right - so I still highly recommend

Some other apps been goin deep on recently:
TheWablet
Ellipsynth
DroneFX

This is a little OT, but I'd like to share this anyway because it took be a while to realize how to do this. And there seems to be some confusion about it in this thread. Like many of you I don't like to use processors (like a Pod or vst plugins) beacause I love my amp and my pedals. So I'm using my pedals and my amp like this, without waking up the neighbors:

Guitar > Pedals > Amp > speaker cable to DI-box with speaker simulation (Palmer the Junction) > Sound interface > iPad/Garageband

The DI-box also goes through to an attenuator (Weber minimass) which feeds the signal to the speaker (which I can choke if I want to). Only speaker cables used here as well.

Well, that's it and I love it.

i think SAMPLR is
only for ipad
how did u
get it on your ipod ryan summit?
or was that
just a typo?

also, i find
it funny
that they basically jacked
the op1 aesthetic
for the look and stylings
of their app

Sounds like iMaschine. How's the lag? It's really annoying both on my iPad and on my iPhone (before it got stolen, FUCK!!). Out of these last suggestions I tried Wablet and really like it. Nice for droneydronezzz. Might use it for background when playing reverb-o-delay-guitar.

If nobody gets anything else for their iPads, at least you have to find nice case. I got these ipad mini cases for myself cause it's awesome.

Just released a couple days ago is Audiobus. WIth Audiobus you can bus audio between compatible apps! Hopefully more developers jump on board.
