THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME.
I've been teeder-toddering with the idea of maknig a bass from scratch, figured this would be a decent segway into it instead. And I think I'd make my father and grandfather (both VERY into woodworking) proud

*Edit: This won't work unless you have the body routed for a TOM fixed bridge or switch to a Jag trem bridge.*Dude, if you haven't started stripping it yet you might want to just buy an unfinished Jag body from Warmoth.
They have 5 up there now for $155 each:

SANDINGSUCKS!

I.... like the way you think, sir. So, I could just take all the old parts from my Blacktop and use them for this new body??

I just realized your Jag has a fixed bridge.
To use the Warmoth body you would need to special order it routed for the TOM fixed bridge or use a Jag Trem bridge.
Also, if you wanted to do a Telemaster you would need a lot of new parts (bridge, control plate, bridge pickup etc.) and your Jaguar neck
wouldn't work due to difference in scale length.

TRUTHS HAVE BEEN SPOKEN.
Just gonna take the cheap route and sand down the original body!

I wish man. This is my Jag in pieces, just took everything apart tonight. 24" neck. Gonna strip paint in the next few weeks, I'm so goddamn busy

I'd probably have to move the bridge if I went baritone since it's a 24" scale

Derp. So this isn't happening anymore. I threw some 12's on the Jaguar after I reassembled it and it plays a dream. Soooo, I'll more than likely be staining the Tele build
