I had a MIJ Boss HM-2 in the 80's. I also sold it in the 80's. If I knew how much hype it would get 25 years later, I might have kept it. It's cool if you're noodling by yourself, but if you're in a band situation, prepare to get lost in the mix. It was so bad that I had my volume on the pedal absolutely cranked and yet despite plenty of headroom in the amp, after I stomped it on, the other players who still had clean guitar, bass, and keys rang out while what I was playing with the HM-2 completely disappeared. I suppose I'm open to the idea that using an HM-2 with a t00b amp might fix that problem, but I have my doubts.

what you have to do is mod the gyro EQ to have a true mid range control around say 700 hz instead of the high control which is just as 1 khz. You can then pick up the mids without messing with highs and lows.

I'd totally put one together for you if only just to check it out. I've been interested in an HM-2 with a mids control for a while. Seems gazetastic.

project is slowing getting off the ground i am trying to get funds to have the enclosures made, as it will probably be a one shot kind of things

Dude, fuck yeah! Like, some may see that as a joke, but I seriously entertained buying an overpriced HM-2 the other day from guitar center just for this purpose.
