I used to be a big fucking tub of lard. Like the well-over-3-bills kinda big. When my wife and I got engaged, we both agreed to lose weight before the wedding, which was 14 months hence. In those 14 months I went from 317 to 226. (my wife also did great and lost about 60 pounds)
I held that weight steady for 2 years, and then I gained about 20 of it back last year when my wife was pregnant with our first son. Now I'm planning on going back on a diet this fall/winter, and losing those 20 pounds, and hopefully about 10 more. I'm a big-framed guy, so I feel like 210-215 or so is a healthy weight for me.
Well, I talked to the wife, and agreed to restart the diet on Monday. I'm gonna do my usual and set two loss goals, I'll go with 20 and 40 pounds this time. Which sets my end-goal weight at 210. I might post weekly updates here just to keep myself honest. Wish me luck!

Not that any of you can commiserate, but gaining weight during my period is seriously frustrating. Even when it comes right off after its finished. And the chocolate and red wine cravings are unacceptable.
Anyway, did ok today. No major exercise, but I stayed pretty active. Went to the dog park and walked, then chased kids at the park.

i see wellness as more of a state of mind. mood, stability, lack of anxiety/guilt/stress etc

I would agree that wellness involves an aspect of the mental state not found in general health.
OK weekend Did demo on my bedroom, I officially hate lathe and plaster but was down to 199 Saturday night.
Still suck at the late night snacking although late night soldering has helped the past few days.

Was: 155 lbs
Goal: 200 lbs (without an increase in body-fat %)
Current: 175 lbs
Work out 4-5 days a week, and I'm trying to get into a running routine. May get back into fighting soon.

I'll be joining this thread. I'm not as such worried about losing weight, more repairing damage from years of living pretty hard. Well, very hard. Current plan is lots of excellent food (in normal amounts, just throwing the money that now doesn't go into alcohol into better quality stuff). Early nights and restful sleep. Good quality meat and vegetables, I'm a pretty decent cook so I can really watch everything I'm putting together, and into my system.
That's the plan anyways.

Good night, limited snacking, got the new pedal boards almost running perfectly which prevented alot of sitting around.
Need some sitting at my desk work outs that co-workers would not notice.

Have you considered a standing desk? You can just raise your keyboard/monitor up off the desk with a shelf, and the calories you burn from standing will really kick start your system. Maybe get a nice cushion pad to stand on, and keep your chair near by for some 5-15 minute breaks.
Today's workout really felt like shit, but I still haven't missed a day. Down another pound.
My favorite snacks are apples and bananas, and replacing all chips and french fry options with carrots and hummus. I can have as many carrots as I want.

Standing desk sounds good, also read about a balance ball, and I started standing for phone conversations because it is supposed to make you sound more authoratative
I work in a tighly managed office so I am not sure they would let me raise my desk but it is worth a shot.
I am walking for things I used to make phone calls on
I feel better at the end of the day because I am not sitting as much

I find just about any excuse to go for a walk while I'm at work. Sitting all day is terrible. Ruins my posture also. At the end of a work day I'm like an inch shorter than at the start.
