I am my terrible local music...

Surprisingly, I actually don't hate a lot of the more popular groups (meaning groups I can even recall) from my city like Cancerslug, The Pine Hill Haints, Thomas Function, and Daikaiju... I feel lucky to have (at least once) had a good music scene where I live, though most of these bands either got too big and stopped playing locally very often or just fizzled out.
EDIT: M'kay, I do remember a few now: Drag Down First, Lampwick, Radiotron... all either really god damn boring or REALLY god damn bad. The Pink Spiders fucking sucked too...

NEVEEERRRR!!!
From the first 5 seconds, that sounds like a Sum 41 clone or something, meaning it sounds like commercialized, derivative horseshit.
Not all Pop-Punk sounds like this. ;__;

Oh, and every song related to or sampling this must fuck off:

I suppose it's not technically appropriate for the thread, but just a warning: If I have to hear that shit in a song ever again..... I WILL FIND YOU.

The terrible local music I have is more a side effect of the existence of rich kids. So, their parents spring for full string parts on their albums or, oh hey, their dad is a producer, so all their stuff comes out sounding super clean and auto-tuned to perfection. Then, their shows are hosted at Presbyterian churches where you can't curse or be "too loud" because the "levels will suffer if you have your amp up too much". Things like this infuriate me. But, at least they're musically coherent. I guess I just disagree with their methods and their sound.
that wouldnt be too bad without that fag singing
He kinda sounds like the singer from Smoking Popes to me... never really loved their vocals though.

That was merely the first wave!
Whuuut? That was, like, the billionth wave. and the late 90's to mid-00's was when it came incredibly popular and commercial and incredibly shitty... but it was only those shit bands and the loser bands that wanted to be those bands that actually suck(ed)!
Ever heard of a band call THE RAMONES???! Dickies?! Queers?! Screeching Weasel?!
Sorry, I am just sensing way too much ill-placed, generalizing Pop-Punk hatred... ;__;

That's exactly what Lampwick (local band) were... Thankfully their music is impossibl to find.
BUT AGAIN: COMMON, WHAT?!
That's a perfect example of TRILLIONTH-wave Ska, my friend... and no one likes that bullshit... but not all Ska is like that!

Pop punk was never much different from regular punk(see: The Ramones) which was never too far off from Cheap Trick-esque power pop. The whole "Emo" thing of the mid '00's was pop punk(Think Green Day, MCR) with a slow infusion of elements of hardcore and metal being added.
Everything in Wisconsin is the lamest metal/hardcore/metalcore or folk. Those are pretty much the two styles of music I would never want to be in a band for. bleh bleh bleh. Why won't somebody make a psychedelic noise-funk band with meeeeeeeeeeeeeee?!?!?!?
BRO, I was totz with you up until you started mentioning "Emo" (or was Emo in scare quotes for a reason?).
I think, if nothing else can be proven by people's hatred of "Pop-Punk", "Hardcore", "Emo", "Screamo", "Ska", what have you, it's that the radio-friendly bastardization (and misappropriation) of these terms really does make for shit music... Because, all too often, those radio-friendly bastardizations and misapproptiations of genre terms are used as examples when people discuss how much they loathe them. It really bums me out... ;__________;
Also, I think I may end up with a single page of my own neurotic, stupid posts... I gotta make up for lost time.

I'm only quoting you to tell you that The Smiths is the best band ever, and your username made me laff.
That band you linked to really does suck though.

It's like if the talking heads knocked up a ska band and the resulting child had aspergers and listened to too much TMBG.

Oh, the dude also runs a fairly meh 'musical gameshow' that we played a while back. Nice guy, but he tried to interview us for the radio show side of it and beforehand told us such a... I don't know... inappropriate I guess, story (that I won't go into here, never like to talk someone down) that three of us were just struck incomprehensible while our piano player just go really intense with the guy about Van Halen.
It was a bizarre, bizarre evening.

This is... a real band? Like, one who've practiced and played together a while? Lord. I mean, I'm not saying my projects are much better, but... jesus. The garage first.
THEN the stage.
