it just seems like a big income cut at a time of large capital outlays isn't good.
yeah i thought it woulda been a good thing to keep supplying retailers to make money
unless the cut from the sales is way too low

The $99 pedals are a brilliant way to move a lot of product. But "making it up in volume" may not be the best business model if you're the sole assembler and you want a life that includes more than solder fumes. The premium pricing available for slightly more complex units is probably a better business proposition for her unless she wants to expand her model. Cutting out middlemen keeps more of the premium in pocket.
If she can bring the labor costs down on the $99 pedals, yeah, bring them back for a small margin through the retail chain, but her own time is too valuable to spend much time per unit on those. I hate to bring up the "C" word, but if you really want to make real money on that sort of retail price, cheap labor needs to come into play.
(If you have cash on hand and were hedging, this could be the last chance to get whatever of those pedals are left in the retail chain. Hit it.)

yeah. i've already psychoanalyzed someone else's business and life too much from a distance, but ever since last fall i've been concerned that Devi's going downhill and taking the business along for the ride. i don't know that she's making rational decisions at this point, or has been for awhile. there it is. sorry, but somebody's gotta say it.

I meant to refer to the $99 jobs, specifically. Margin has just got to suck on those, and I was operating under the assumption that there will continue to be some ongoing business here.

Yea, I never thought of her being much of a stickler for clean wiring

1) Sorry about the Work Horses. They were built by a former contractor who I eventually let go. If anyone with a workhorse would like to trade theirs in for currently produced devi pedals, I'm willing to oblige >>>
devi@deviever.com2) I -am- a stickler for clean wiring and is half the reason I've had trouble hiring good help over the years, because it seems even the most "experience" builders don't understand how to wire properly. That being said, I've never had a pedal returned that I personally built with issues in regards to wiring or electrical tape. I understand that there is a segment of the population intimidated by the idea of the security and beauty of hand wired pedals and electrical tape securing.... not to mention it's a pain in the ass to do everyday... so thusly I am soon switching over to purely board mounted builds for the small pedals.
3) Also fuck off and die, and much love to those who love.

P.S. Also something about people who think they know me because of my internet presence and how I find it amusing and things about devi ever old-timer fan-boi's with their broken hearts and it's just all so hilarious and I love you all and free pedal give-a-ways happening over at the shoe gazers forum and let's all touch each other's butts!

I think that is really cool. Thing is what would do the same thing

I'll just keep babying mine till it dies

Or till I find someone that has a real fix. I still use it for recording you see... for the Ps... LOL!
I might go back over there now that is seems the vibe has toned down, it got bad there a few times and I needed to step out thice vs being a butt
