Got mine a couple of weeks ago directly from FuzzHugger.com
When I first plugged the Algal Bloom into my silverface Princeton Reverb it was like: F*CK YES!!
I really dig its abrasive voice and character. Very original and great sounding at any setting!
Congratulations, Tom, for developing such a beautiful fuzz pedal!

Been digging the Bloom a lot lately. Love the sound of it with my low pass filter. Amazing tones.

the algal bloom sounds great. it will sound as huge as your huge amp or as pignose as your pignose or better yet pipe amp!
yes, imo the algal bloom sounds great with a pignose amp or a micro cube on back panel or a pipe amp in first mode so it can handle bed room level. i dont know what your bed room level is.

Continued props for the Algal Bloom!
I've had my Algal Bloom (the one picture as my avatar) for quite a while now. It has gone on and off the board because I don't always use fuzz in this band...instead I use a couple overdrives. Well, we've decided to tackle the entire Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album for a Halloween gig we have coming. David Gilmour used a silicon fuzz face on the recording, so I decided to use the Algal Bloom in place of an overdrive. Well, it's been sounding great! I don't know if many users here do the classic rock thing or not, but I can vouch for the Algal Bloom being tweakable enough to get classic fuzz tones. I have it dialed in to sound like a silicon fuzz face yet with more sustain. My current settings are: Trim: 3:00; Bloom: 1:00; Starve: 10:30; Volume: 1:00.

I find this pedal extremely fascinating and thinking of getting it BUT, how does it fit in the mix? As a touring and recording musician this is pretty integral. I've gone through so many muffs only to realize that they will never fit the mix.

This is not a muff! The reason the muff doesn't sit well in a mix is because of it's tone control. You won't have the same problem with the Algal Bloom.

as far as muff sounds go, I would think the Elements would be closer than the algal bloom....that being said, get an Algal Bloom. it's seriously awesome and you won't be disappointed. and if you don't like it, someone in B/S/T would probably be happy to take it off your hands for you

I just got the last mini Algal Bloom from ToneFactor (Mine is still for sale on the site. I think it's a mistake.). I'm really pleased with it. I A/B'd it with my other main fuzz, a Swollen Pickle. There's some overlap in the character of the fuzz, but not enough to make it redundant. The Algal Bloom is voiced a little higher, and has less output volume. It does some interesting subtle things to sustained chords, like beating, especially on higher notes. It seems to like treblier pickups better too. There's a little bit of noise, but that's expected in such a wild fuzz. I'm going to run them together parallel in stereo.

Can't wait to get mine in! Settling for Youtube clips at the moment - that Andy from ProGuitarShop can certainly sell anything.
In the meantime, it's a Swollen Pickle Mk. II and MXR Classic Fuzz 108 for me now. Will probably get rid of the former (just not for me - I want something that can do a bit more mid-range, like a Musket) but will hang onto the latter. Surprisingly good job from MXR on the 108.
Though the Death by Audio Apocalypse is also calling my name... Never realized I was a fuzz guy until recently.
