thats a nice piece of gear man. I love those Ibanez AR's...almost bought a newish one a few weeks ago, but it was exactly the same colour as my LP, and also the guy had the Seymour Duncan P-Rails in it. But a vintage AR and a Yamaha SG are still on my list!
Also mate...i've been watching your youtube tracks at Jooniors...they are really good tracks.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
D-Day, that is a killer score, brother man! If I could justify another guitar, I'd totally get an old Ibanez Musician or Artist. But at this point, 2 is all I need -- and I'm lucky enough to have a (semi) modern Gibson LP that actually plays nicely in my mid 00s LP Studio. From the sound of it, I lucked out!

Also, can we all agree that forming a new band is awesome and yet very frustrating because you know that no matter what, the first four or five songs you write will pale in comparison to the stuff that comes out once everyone gets comfortable? Sheesh. Oh well.

Good! The new album is front to back most excellent. I got it on orange vinyl a couple weeks ago and I'm super happy with that purchase.
AND NEW QOTSA EEEEEEE
That GY tune is fucking great. Saw them live not too long ago and they completely blew me away. I havent seen a band like that live since QOTSA circa 2002.
and man being a QOTSA fan since 2001.....that new song leaves me a little worried. It is kinda bland sounding, never really went anywhere. I really want to like but as of right now, i cant. Maybe it'll grow on me.
And fucking JT on drums!! I love his playing. He was just nailing the drum parts, dare i say even better than Castillo ever did. I cant wait to see them develop some jams with JT behind the kit. Fucking NAILED First it Giveth.....in the first fucking gig!!!

DUDE.... Dude. I'm so with you on this. Just getting everything together. Sometimes it gets tiring. But there is no giving up, no surrender, no quit. I totally hope you are right about the first five songs, cause I like where we've been going with it. Fucking drums man.
Patience, I needs more of it.
We may take a new direction in regards to how we approach it and who's playing what. It helps that tony and I both play multiple instruments. We'll see what the future holds when it happens.
GOT, TWD were badass tonight and I may have had to many beers.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Dude, at least you didn't do what my band did and invest all your time and money into an ep that was all first round material, then break up just as the song writing was kicking ass. Dumbest shit ever.
To be fair though we all had different shit going on in our lives. Its tough to start, you gotta get through that rough first period.
Also D-Day: Sorry if I was being ignorant with my SG related comments, thanks for weighing in (and for the Tad related link, I haven't really kept up with his stuff since the early 90's, that was a cool vid). I'm still kinda 50/50 on sinking cash into a Gibson, even a used one, just because prices are still ridiculous down here. Plus now there's that stupid mentality that "oh, its hit 20 years, so its vintage now, even if it was crap when it was released"...thanks ebay. Although sadly, that is starting to apply to all those old Jap knock offs, "oh, its a lawsuit, so you know, even if it is a base model Hondo, its gonna go for 3 times its actual worth". You have totally inspired me with that AR though, they are sweet. I'm pretty much convinced now that a Japanese option, new or used is most likely the way I'll go. I think Ibanez and I are going to have to negotiate an endorsement deal if this continues...

EDIT: i don't know why i can't quote your picture. too bad. i wish i could 'cause it's a sweet sight to see. i'm not good at internet though.
that's so sweet! our guitars are pretty much brothers. mine's an 81 as well, from may i think although i should look at the serial number again to make sure. it looks identical, except that i've done some shit to the electronics and my bridge pickup is now black and my lower tone knob now has a switch in it's place. these things are fucking killer. so much so that i'm pretty sure if i were to buy another guitar tomorrow, it would be another AR50 like the one i have, or a yamaha sg like the one you have. you're going to love it. i can't wait to see what you think of it. mine was really good when i got it, but after a good setup and fret dress, it is a dream to play. and it sounds awesome too. to be honest though, i'm not crazy about those stock pickups. i put a duncan distortion in the bridge and i love it now, even though i could get something cooler if i dropped a lot of cash, but i'm pretty happy with this pickup.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Mmmmm its been a long weekend...
Coffees not strong enough to go back and multi quote so....
SG's - I've had better experiences with set neck epiphones then any non vintage Gibson. I can't stand the "faded" series at all, the feel / the vibe / nada. I even prefer my Epi Flying V over the faded series V I had. Gibson has hit the fan AFAIAC.
QOTSA - New song is definitely different but I am excited as hell for the new album. I love pretty much all QOTSA albums but only a few Kyuss albums, and Josh Homme is a big influence on me not as much in playing style but as a professional musician I really look up to him and the things he has accomplished as it helps me set my own goals.
Darren - SWEET SCORE on that Ibby!!!! She's a beaut!!!
Nightterrors - Dude, we NEED pics!

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I dig SGs. It was the first guitar I ever saved my cash up and bought myself. Now though I'm more of an LP kinda guy but I'll always love the Gibson SG. I'd definitely play one before buying though because the newer Gibsons are really hit or miss with miss being more common. Usually the older ones before 05 are pretty solid though. My SG is a 99 Standard and I have had no problems tuning it down to A with a set of Not Even Slinkies. It actually stays in tune better than my LP.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I suppose it just depends on the guitar (and the player) doesn't it? If Iommi can keep an SG in C# with 8s...

Can't say I've ever used one of the bolt on Epi's.
