Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
DAMN, this thread moves fast within a day or so.
I rocked the OR120 with the Ampeg 810, and the green with the 80's Peavey 215 last night on bass.
I could FEEL it on my back, it was magical.
hopefully next jam I can get some photos/ maybe some audio for you guys!

QOTSA are friggin' awesome. Every song, every album. I don't care what anyone says.
Still haven't gotten into Kyuss, I'll admit it. Obviously there's a few songs I dig, but I don't say "I like that band" if I only like a few songs.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
QOTSA just end up reminding me of a more rawk Husker Du for some reason... I like a few of the songs but most just washes over me as meh... not saying they aren't good but I miss the big rawness, because the musical vocabulary is basically the same

great idea! I will now attempt to share mine. (may fail) I tend to go for stuff that I consider relaxing. Like Torche.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Do I even post in the Doom Room anymore?!?!?
Tad tunes to A standard. His SG's work fine. I've played 'em.
That said,
I will never pay money for another. After getting used to the Yamaha since August I picked up my tried and true '95 SG standard and man was I disappointed. Read on and you'll see how I solved this problem.
Perhaps it's that whole zillion bux offa kicksharter but not wanting to pay musicians thing? That's the one that grinds me anyway
It really is ALL about Japan. Those dudes can refine anything to be better than its originator.
I can't believe I forgot to say happy birthday yesterday.
I'll do it today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICK
I've had dudes act all incredulous and refuse to believe that I'm not into Kyuss. I wanted to be. You know why? Because their shit was advertised in the back of Thrasher. So I was all set to like it. And then I didn't. I like 'em a little better now but I'm still not terribly moved. Same with Queens.
Thanks for the kindness John
Anyhow, back to my lousy SG that I used to think was so great before I got a proper Japanese guitar. Yeah after not touching the thing for seven months it was just plain sad. I did all sorts of tweaking on it and NOPE. So I remembered that the singer dude from Stereo Creeps had a certain righteous Japanesey guitar he was looking to trade away. I hit him up and while we were loading the trailer for Portland yesterday afternoon he came over and we traded on the spot.
This is a crunkass vintage case:
And now the guitar!

Absolutely man. Kyuss is definitely a band in this genre that people make you think you NEED to like.
I love QOTSA, as far as I'm concerned... they can do no wrong.
