Getting excited about potentially having some work done to my Warwick.

Contacted a local repairman that seems highly regarded to do the work.

The main thing is new strings. Since Mecha Shiva has decided to tune down a whole step I'm going to try out a really non traditional set of strings from Circle K. The .166 seems to be the recommended for the low tuning and it seemingly fits the scale length and has the tapered end that I will need to accommodate the tailpiece bridge situation on my Warwick without needing to modify it.

I will need a new nut cut and slotted to accommodate that crazy string gauge, plus a relief/truss rod adjustment, intonation, string height ect ect. I'll keep the old nut if I decide to go back to "stock". The Original JAN broke a few years back and had it replaced with a bone nut by a different shop. I'm satisfied with the work,...but not sure if they are reasonable or equipped to do the following work.

The one gripe I've had with the bass is the flat profile frets. Seems that modern Warwicks have a more rounded profile fret. I think the flat profile contributes to a duller sound on the bass and decreased ease of play. I figure if I'm going to have extensive work done I figured I'd go ahead and have the repairman preform a refret as well.

I've been jonesing for a new bass,...looking at SR5s and L2500s,...but updating the Warwick seems like the most cost effective way of gaining some satisfaction and staving off those NBD GAS pains. That bass has been in my possession for 12 years and holds a lot of sentimental value so I figured rather than retire it for something newer,...why not update and make it new again.

That's sub sonic.
I don't think your "effects" will track that low. Got to play the amp, not the bass.

At the risk of sounding retarded, what's the rest of your rig?

I play in ADADG all the time with my covers band, and it's not really subsonic. That low A is 27 Hz. Granted, my cab probably can't reproduce that fundamental, but it's not THAT low. I'm pretty sure there were a couple guys around here that tune all the way down to F#. I think that's the tuning Bongripper uses.
