Flats are great for when you have a guitar that is always a tad too bright. I put some chromewounds on a ibanez/gibson spawn and it made me go from wanting to sell it, to actually really enjoying it for playing fazz.

Currently a Lace Deathbucker in the neck and an Iommi in the bridge.
I should really take a pic of it all finished.

Redid the Telecaster today so that I can use it out this weekend.
Routed the neck pickup for a humbucker and dropped in a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat. Finally got to use the flat black Telecaster pickguard I ordered two years ago. Funny how that works out. Bridge pickup is a Squier Fat Tele, bridge is a Wilkinson with compensated brass saddles. Middle position goes out of phase for even more twang. Maple MIM neck. I think I might have to sand down the neck pocket a little bit to improve the action, as the saddle height is pretty high so that I don't buzz or fret out. All in all I'm pretty happy though!

In another beautiful looking mistake, I put together a new JM over the weekend.

Got a fucked up $50 body on eBay. Seller said just the PUP routes were off (a chisel fixed that) but there were a few other problems as well that aren't quite solvable. Either way, I'm happy. One coat of ebony stain that was sanded down and 5 coats of tru oil. Antiquity II bridge, VMJM neck, no rhythm circuit.
I'm starting to realize I really just don't like painted, shiny guitars.

Do it. Something about a fucked up stain just puts a smile on my face.
