i love having two loopers.

so my friend Dan, having gotten settled into the house, fell in the driveway yesterday and fucked his wrist up. when i took him to the urgent care center today they told him that he'd "broken the crap out of it" and has to see an orthopedist on Tuesday, having apparently separated the joint to the extent that he might need a pin in it. needless to say, this isn't good news as it slows down our plan to start a rock band and conquer the world.

It's like a worse version of everything Jack White has ever done.

Holy FUCK I hate soldering.
No way am I ever going to build a pedal. I don't have the patience for it.
Wiring up a guitar already takes me like half the fucking day. I don't know what demonic magic is required to make things stick to pots, but I don't have it.

got this tattoo done in white ink but i think the artist should've gone over it another time or something. i can't see it at all, not even the filled in shit. i dunno if it's because it's still swollen. or because i'm not as light skinned as i thought i was? not mad at all, mostly feeling apathetic.

Wait for it to fully heal (needs to be healed before they can redo it anyways) then go back if you still can't see (parts of) it. Most artists will fix up any parts that aren't filled in properly.

Stick to the back of pots?

You want a reasonably powerful/hot iron, a large tip, and some practice. You wanna feed just a bit on, wait for the pot to heat up, then feed some more on. The solder should pool on the pot, not blob up in one spot.

If the solder won't flow, you may need to scuff up the pot with some sandpaper or a file. Some pots (Like Bourns guitar pots and CTS) solder better than cheaper pots (like the Alpha pots used in pedals). The Bourns are stupidly easy to solder to.

Also, wiring guitars is way worse than building pedals. It takes me as long to re-wire a guitar as it does to build a simple pedal. maybe longer. It's the worst.

I fucking BLOWWW at wiring pedals, but I love wiring guitars. I had my friends active Jazz today, and dissasembled the wiring and made it passive, with one volume and a blend pot for the pickups. Took an hour-ish, and was pretty fun. Pedals are too small.

Also, I used to have problems wiring pots, but then McSpunx gave me a really good soldering station. So, my advice: Get a better soldering iron. One that gets really, really hot.

Thanks brohan. Sanding it is a really good idea...I need a larger tip too. I'm using a pencil-type one right now but I just found a chisely one. I do have a soldering station that supposedly goes up to 800 degrees F.

I LIKE messing with guitars and the "idea" of rewiring them, but the actual act of playing with the electronics always leaves me fuming.
It would probably help if I stopped beginning it at midnight and quit pushing through despite how obviously tired I am. It'll be there tomorrow.
Plus it doesn't really help my confidence when I put all the stuff into place and think "man one good hit and it's all over".
I always rage and look like a dumbass  / :(

Got wasted last night and destroyed my life.

Fortunately my coworker stopped me from driving. At least I think that's what happened.

i hate when you see an awesome cheap pedal on eBay, and wanna spend under $100 on it, but you keep getting outbid.

as much as i'd love the hardwire delay, i can wait
