Thanks, Tendollarcat.

I'm pretty sure I sold my first ever sell to you (maybe a Barnacle fuzz....?) and it was one of the smoothest transactions I've ever had. Looking back at my post and then reading yours, I think I was being extreme and you're so right. Instead of not shipping to Oz, ever, I should just do the whole "your responsible" setup. I'll send you a PM, for sure. Thanks, man.

I mean, I thought I had come up with a cool way to protect the tubes in shipping.....I was thinking about the box being poked and prodded. Stupid me didn't even plan for it being mishandled since it's too heavy to throw. I didn't even think about some fucktard dropping it. Bottomline, if it's legit, it's TOTALLY my fault. So as much as I don't want to lose $300 being scammed, I don't want this guy paying $300 if it IS legit.

I really hope you get it worked out man. It sucks to lose money because peeps can't just be a little careful when handling packages. You'd think it'd be in the job description.

How do you know he didn't drop the damn thing himself though? I dunno. I would have a hard fucking time giving up 300 for it man.

Did he contact you about fixing it before or after he fixed it?

Yeah.....hairy situation.

He sent me the first email saying basically that he got it, he was about to leave positive feedback, and then mentioned the damage in passing like.......which makes it ehhhhhhh just right there....because the good scammers will do stuff like that, knowing the other person would offer to pay....however.....a good person, especially good Aussie traders like Tendollarcat, would probably do the same thing. Hoping the other person would pay a bit but not expecting them to because he's assuming the responsibility of the international shipping risks. And yeah, that is one helluva bill for the pics shown.......but this was his first experience with tubes and I've had past histories of being a noob and screwed on repair bills.

I can let if go and see what happens (which could either let him back away from this scam knowing he's been had OR leave a really good guy hanging on a bill that's my fault) OR email him for an update (which could invite him back in on the scam, maybe going for a fake invoice OR allow me to right a wrong if this is all true). Kinda 50/50 on it. He hasn't gotten back to me in 5 days.

I sent a message asking for an update.

I figure any invoice HAS to have a business name and number and I can always check up on it.

No Business name = No Money

Yeah.... that doesn't look like $700 worth of damage, but I've learned that doesn't mean a lot.

If a repair place has to open an amp, test stuff, order parts, bench fees, it can add up in the blink of an eye.

Still, I'm with delta. I would want a legitimate invoice/receipt.

So I ended up giving him the $300.

IN-E-WAYS.....I'm now proudly a Solid State man. Holy shit. This Glockenklang Blue Soul is THE best amp I've ever played through. It's somehow dark, full, and motherfucking boomy while still clear, articulate, and "light on its feet". A really weird combination of being awesome at everything. SOOOOOOOO great.

You are a good dude MSU. Don't ever let anyone tell you different.

Seriously I would have had a hard time dishing out that dough but that's honorable man and I respect it.

So I'm still trying to move my Eden head. I dig the shit out of it, but I want something more portable and less heavy. Will be going back to SS unless I get offered a tube amp that doesn't weight 80lbs.

More portable? Where do you move your amps too?

i'm pretty excited about shows with decent FOH.... with the strap on the Mono case and the huge compartment i can fit my bass on my back, pedalboard hanging off my left side with a half rack micro amp inside the compartment and holding an amp stand in my left hand, one Aggie GS112 in my right hand. if there's not a lot of stairs or a long ass trip from car to club then i can one-trip it.

BOOYAHKAH.

...... now i need to get a second SWR Amp Lite. if i don't, i'm gonna have to shuffle the one i have at home back and forth.

shite. right now i can put my GS212 into my Not Using This Gear Right Now yarea and only grab it during shows with zero FOH. WOOT.

...... i love micro SS amps -> tooby emulator Rusty Box.

My bro's house, plus I've got a few people that want to jam, so it'd just be easier if I didn't have to lug around an 80lbs amp. hah

Yeah lugging the Orange head is a chore, but I am hooked. That Eden weighs about half as much as an Ampeg SVT head.
Has anybody checked out the Jules Monique? It is a tube pre that has is supposed to sound sweet! It is light, and not too expensive ($400ish?). IF you scooped one up and searched high and low for the right tube power amp, maybe you could come out lighter.
Also, glad you are jamming bro, you are great player JWAR and fucking Kansas needs to know that!

Yeah, I used to own a Genz shuttle, and although I loved how light and portable it was (I usually could squeeze it into my little cables-n-random-shit accessories bag), I was just never quite happy with the tone when it came to using dirt.

Ever since I started using my 1960, I loved its tone so much, I don't even think about how heavy it is. Yeah lugging it around sucks, but I just don't care.
