The first time I played it I stopped after a couple of hours (and finished Uncharted 3 instead). I went back to it later, it clicked and it's now probably my favourite game ever. There are so many smart design choices in there, and the game systems are excellent...

16 hours of beating by head against a wall and I'm still not convinced.

Which parts make you beat your head against a wall ?
I'm not saying that you're wrong, the game might very well not be for you, but there's a chance that a different approach may make the game better for you :).

I'm also curious what parts you're stuck on
Dark Soul has like redefined gaming for me. Took so long for me to get into another game after playing it
Also not saying you're wrong, just saying I really enjoyed it

I'm never playing the game again so no, I don't want advice, commentary or otherwise. I hate everything about it.

And yeah, Gamergate and anyone who associates with it can go get fucked.

GardenoftheDead : I'm still interested in why you hate it, though :). It's always good to know why/how some players react strongly to some game mechanics or any other part of a game, even when it's not your own...

I couldn't get into Dark Souls either.........probably because I'm terrible at games, and the level of frustration that game gave me (right away) was not worth it to me.
Would like to give it another shot when I have the time to put into it.

Though, super deep interesting hard games do intrigue me..........but I don't play enough, nor are dedicated to 1 game enough to get into overly complicated games.
I played the first part of Mass Effect 1 about 5 times........because I'd play, get into it.........then got busy with stuff........didn't play for a month......forget how it worked and start over.

tried Skyrim, Far Cry 3, Red Dead, and a bunch of other open world games. Seemed like cool games, but I just got lost, confused, and frustrated. (told ya I sucked :))
I dug Mass Effect, Bioshock, Borderlands 1, Destiny, Diablo 3............all sorta "on rails" open world. Just what I prefer, I guess.

Now I've stopped playing Destiny again. Just started to feel pointless. Loot/marks/materials grind over and over. I didn't even get to max level.........people who have must have a lot of time EVERYDAY and really enjoy mindless grinding. :-/
It's weird, because in most loot games you mindlessly grind to find that awesomer thing, and that's okay. In Destiny, they just made it mindless repetitive work, that you have to complete everyday and every week, to level up (find the next better thing).

Picked up Super/Ultra Street Fighter IV, and I'm really enjoying it. It's really complicated to me, but really interesting. Sorta like learning guitar. Seems so easy by looking at it, but is infinitely complicated.
It's kinda cool because the grind in that game is practicing to get better. Not just mindless grind for digital representations of incrementally more powerful items.
The other cool thing about SF4, is that I can play/practice for a while......if I lose my attention or need a rest, the matches only last 3-6 minutes.........so I can put it down and play something else.

Sorry for the spilt guts long post. I don't have any friends.

We're all friends here

I'm on the same train regarding the mindless grind. Most of the new games feel like that to me for some reason. "here, have this sword; it can cut through armor and still slice a tomato; but there's more! buy now and get this armor for free!" Meh. Idk if its capitalism, the newer generation of gamers that play more cuz of apathy/competitiveness then genuine enjoyment of immersion. Getting lost in Morrowind was one of the periods of my life I don't even remember, but left me with good feels and a smile on my face. I don't get that a lot with games anymore. Borderlands 1 was an exception tho.

Feels like Skywind will deliver on this front, looks amazing atm.

I would be the happiest human if everyone that supported the harassment side of gamergate made the collective IQ of this planet just a little bit higher and just hung themselves

I follow some people on Twitter that are combating gamergate and the screenshots they take of 8chan are disgusting, the world is actually better off without a lot of those people, absolute scum of the earth.

As far as my gaming, I'm really getting in to Shadow or Mordor, the combat is basic but fun and it's just addictive. I've also avenged a couple of Foomanfat's deaths
Got Wolfenstein on the Steam sale too so I'll be starting that next.

It's just a hate group at this point, made up almost entirely of extremely bigoted white males.

I really, really love my PS Vita... I've been solely gaming on that for the past week and a bit.

I basically want to play a sandbox version of Adventure Time: The Game (that isn't actually attached to the Adventure Time franchise). So, open plains, dungeons, puzzles, cool loot, mad shops, weird shit abounds, awesome soundtrack.
What game am I describing?
Please no one say Skyrim.
I abandoned my character about 18 months ago and I lack the wontons to pick up where I left off.

Plus something kinda cartoony wouldn't suck.

Zelda? Your description kinda made me think about Wind Waker.

Yeah, I was thinking a Zelda type of deal.
Last thing I played was Twilight Princess. Loved that game.

I'd need a Wii U For Wind Waker, though, wouldn't I?

You could also go old-school with a Gamecube. But the Wii U would give you the ability to play the new one when that comes out, and that also looks pretty close to what you described (apparently an even more open world than previous installments etc.). I exclusively play Zelda-games though, so my advice is pretty darn subjective and limited.
