A lot of guitars need a fretjob from the factory, about 80 percent of the ones ive played have

.
You might just need a trussrod adjustment though, you check that yet?

similar to my thinking - you had the money to grab the SG standard with P90's whereas i have to live with the not so low action on my sg classic with p90's..
pedals are somewhat related too! real nice going - looking to grab a ghost echo myself!
mate, that SG standard was a pretty cheap deal actually...because its last years model a shop in the UK is having a blowout. Before they got the 2013 SG's they were about £1000, they have now reduced it to £700...i was also thinking of second hand SG Special with p90's but second hand they go for about £600-650...so i didn't really see the point...plus i got a really good price on my Epi Zakk Wylde...some people really want that guitar and don't care how much they pay for it!
As for the action, i've worked on it all last night and a little tonight, and the action is pretty high for my liking, but then again i haven't adjusted the neck. I'm going to give it a month and then take it to a tech to set it up with 12-60's.
As for the Ghost echo...it is amazing. The first time i plugged it in at rehearsals and had everything at 12'oclock, it just sounded awesome...to the point where the bass player stopped and looked me with a smile!

So Im gunna start a 2x15 build soon and I was wondering, how many handles you think I could put on it? Itll be heavy so Im thinking like 12 should do it.

Might as well round it up to 15 to match the speaker size.

15 handles per speaker. Per person carrying said cab.

So what, we going with 3 carrying sides or 4? 120 handles? You sure that is going to be enough?

Well I mean I could prolly fit a few to the front baffle i I remove a speaker or two...Good ideas guys, you always come through for me!
I was thinking red grill with black piping. havent decided on nosing wood or even what color to stain it. maybe black with oak nosing or something. What looks awesome and says, "imma crush your nutz with this bass"?

Maybe you are on to something. Downgrade the speaker sizes so you can fit more handles. Imagine the amount of handles you could fit with 2 - 6 inch speakers.

Don't explain it. Defo cool though. Sounds like mark of Cain (Australian band, for those not in the know) a little.
Also, tells are cool, wish I owned a fender. Makes me want to assemble the box of parts that was my ibanez strat...
And dream dunwich...is it sacrilege to say I'd like a 2 channel wizard with a clean channel and the option to blend the fuzz tones with a tighter slo style distotrtion....on kt88s?
I initially, around Oct 2011, wanted a Wizard with a clean channel, but Nick said that it would be very hard to accurately separate the preamps so that you didn't have spillover frequencies that either ruined the gain channel or the clean channel—I think it was something like that, or maybe it was the switching issue. He said there could be a resolution to it, but it would complex. So I decided against it. I generally prefer boosting an amp with a pedal, anyway, so all that gain wasn't as interesting to me as a Sunn Model T/Marshall Super Lead clone, so that's what I ended up with—though I won't be having that amp built for another while now.
Forrrest wrote:anyone else here have problems at shows being forced to turn down your amp and being unsatisfied not driving your amp to delicious gain?
You could look into a high quality attenuator. You don't need to attenuate by much, just a few decibels so that the sound man is happy.
misterstomach wrote:new05002 wrote:high power and tube rectification usually dont jive. Has to do with power requirements on the recto.
i know everyone here hates these amps and will discount my opinion based on the fact that i mention one, but, i used to have and old two channel dual rectifier, which i still stand by as being a good amp. that shit sounded great when dialed in right, which takes practice. but i never used the tube rectifier option on it. didn't sound near as good to me as the solid state rectifier with a high power high gain situation.
Yeah, the early Dual Rectifiers were good if you knew how to use them. The guitarist from Tombs uses one I think. Sounds awesome. Gojira make 'em sound good, too.
AxAxSxS wrote:On the rectifier issue. My understanding was that it has minimal effect on the tone of an amp. Mesa's "dual rectifier" is mostly a marketing gimmick (voodoo) those are great amps, but not because of how the power is handled. I may be all confuzzed on that. I am still learning.
Well, if you play the amp loud enough you actually overdrive the rectifier tube, so I hear. This is what causes much of the sag in the tone. But people bought them for 'Djent' and Metalcore at home and completely misused the amp. It needs to be played loudly before it starts to clean up and stop being so fizzy and mushy.

Fucking nice, matey. I'm really glad you're happy with it all.

What's your experience with guitars that have been plek'ed by a Plek Machine?

Also, new pedal day!

And anyone that hasn't seen it on my Facebook page, here are a couple of little looping videos I did that also showed the rest of my gear. The sound quality is bad because of the microphone on my smartphone breaking up, but I was happy with them.
