Here's the future DEFX Calypso project, our take on the Spaceman Explorer phaser.

Since the original used a custom programmed chip for the LFO, we looked to Tom over at Electric Druid for an "off the shelf" upgrade. The StompLFO chip fit the bill here, and also upgrades the circuit as a whole. Instead of 5 waveforms and a expression pedal mode, the chip offers 8 waveforms, including a couple of different sample hold modes. We retained the expression pedal sweep, you simply turn the depth to zero, and the expression pedal manually sweeps the phaser. It also adds tap tempo, as well as a gate input for use with an external sync signal. A rate LED allows you to see what the big gun inside is doing. Like they say, more, is.... more!

Loving these hi-concept pieces! I think I sort of understand what cloudscapes' creation does.. definitely want, if not to own then just mire from afar.

I'm keepin it lowbrow with another pretty straight clone, this time the Basic Audio Zippy II. Weird and brassy as advertised, lovely actually. Fairchild MPS6513 transistors, some NOS caps.

First time using my new (mad cheap on sale) step drill bit and letter punch set. Footswitch hole slipped dangerously close to the edge, reminder to pre-drill. Could have fit doggystyle jacks maybe but went for the pedalboard un-friendly config. Used more of my Citadel wash on the bare enclosure, skipped the clearcoat so it will get scratched up, whatever. Might well build another and put it in a big box with a different flavor fuzz also.

Ok, sneaking in another BA-derived circuit, the Pep Box. Built with some slightly off resistor/cap values for more brutality. Pep pot goes from gated to biased, increasingly noisy until before noon, then back again. Different kinds of gnarliness across the sweep, heavy and ugly. Body (eye) 3 cap is 12nf so at max it gets a little more bassy than strictly necessary. BC107A transistors.

Slime top wash finish again, it's just quick and enjoyable to do and seems pretty durable with some layers of clearcoat on top (remains to be seen, I always manage to make a few nicks when tightening the nuts). Letter punching didn't go smoothly this time but legible enough.

Here's something based on the Systech OD.

I got the PCB from the amazing LAOWIZ -- who not only makes the coolest pedals, he also is the coolest dude, as he proposed very interesting mods and helped me with my questions and my general noobness and patiently guided me through this build. As he is still tweaking the circuit and adding mods, this some sort of "intermediate 1.1. version".

What got added to the Systech circuit with this build is the "ZZZZ" control, which defines the shape of the distorted sound. It kind of goes from boost to the original OD to compressed fuzzy sounds.
Then there is also a Diode switch: the stock SI (914), NONE and currently GE. The two caps that shape the filter are also socketed and have different values than the original.
Finally the input cap has been changed (7NF instead of 1NF) from the Systech design.

I might still try out different components, but it sounds pretty nice as is right now. It even does some cool white noise sounds with the Gain cranked when there is no input.
Here's a quick sample on BASS: first SI, then GE, then NONE, then no input.

Axoloti based. Selection between a 20 second delay (can do 40,but even 20 seems overkill. Might make it 10-15) or a shorter BBD style crunchy lofi delay into either gooey pitch modulation or pulsating amplitude modulation that goes into ringmod territory. Next up is a resonant 2-pole high or lowpass filter and an ambient reverb (based on Clouds) with controls for room size and smearing. No bypass shit. This baby is always listening and recording and I use the d.mix and r.mix to bring the effect back in.

I've been getting into jfets and amp-ish overdrives lately (yaaaaawn... TGP here I come ) No, but here is one ('course from tagboardeffects/lvlark) that I really liked; Catalinbread Formula No.5!

Fat OD to fuzzy and compressed, pretty versatile and fun to play. Instead of mo gain I went for a lo gain option on the toggle switch. I swear I still love fuzz just went the other way here.

Here's my latest, on a PedalPCB Data Corrupter sound-a-like board. I added two of the mods Laowiz was talking about a few pages ago: Freq and Track.

The pedal sounds totally nuts and goes wild on some settings. The Track switch is a nice add on and comes in handy as it can tame the madness a bit.
Freq gives you another pitch of oscillation.

There have been a few hiccups regarding drilling precision and image transfer, but I don't mind. Looks match sounds.

Here's a Harmonic Percolator, my first actually. Had it on the breadboard first and tweaked a little, diode-wise mostly. Many good combos but went GAY, literally. Got a few of these NOS Ge beauties and yeah.. sounds good!
Asymmetrical configuration. Softer and quieter than the STR8 setting without diodes. This pedal is pretty smooth overall, nothing crazy in terms of gain but definitely loud, fuzzy and harmonik.

Up/down (or top/bottom) switch between the knobs was intended for a boost but that wasn't needed, so now it switches a feedback resistor, basically does nothing. Just adds to the already confusing Finnish layout.

Harmonia I think anyone can guess, and Tasapaino is the right word for balance in this context I thiiink.. Perkele - official swear of the Finns, and Aromikeitin - Percolator. Also a nod to their national flower, Convallaria majalis.
