This belongs in both the happy and angry threads, because it's both good and bad, but fuck it:

In my covers band, we've been unhappy with our guitarist for over a year now. He's been dragging his ass on learning new songs, playing like a zombie at shows, and just generally having no fire anymore. Had a heavy band meeting last night where we confronted him about his slacking and bullshit. He said he'd try to work on it. Then he left and we all voted that we're going to start looking for a new guitarist anyway. We all agreed on a guy that we all know that's in another band we've played with before, that we're going to zero in on and see if we can steal him.

The shitty thing is that we've all been friends for like 10 years and it sucks that I'm going to have to kick him out of the band. The cool thing is that the guy we're going to ask to join is a fucking amazing guitarist, and maybe getting a new guitarist will really light a fire and we'll go back to challenging ourselves and learning hard, kick-ass songs.

And, when I was downtown, I spotted this little shop with a couple guitars in the window, went in and it turns out it's a repair/luthier/used vintage gear shop. I walked up to the guy running it and said "I love this shop, and was wondering if you need help doing anything at all ever?" And he said they actually do, so I gave him my name and number and then we talked about vintage gear for a good 10-25 minutes. I left when I started getting nervous that I was going to screw up potentially the COOLEST FUCKING JOB EVER. Now I'm going to wait a day or two and call him.

Also, Build A Bear Workshop should be hiring for August, so I might end up working in Build A Bear AND A guitar shop, AND living with one of my best friends in A FUCKING AWESOME APARTMENT IN A REAL GOD DAMN CITY.

Today was FREAKING AWESOME.

HEY I LIVE IN ALBANY AND I KNOW THAT PLACE THAT YOU'RE TALING ABOUT. I discovered that/talked to him a few weeks ago about gear and he's going to sell me an old reel to reel recorder! LETS PLAY MUSIC

Scoooooooore. My drummer buddy is totally down for a 2 piece thing, and we jammed for 2 hours tonight. He absolutely tore it up, and it sounded awesome. Just picked riffs and jammed on them, with either him leading the timing or me, and it felt awesome. This could eventually be a thing, and that makes me SO EXCITED.

Today actually turned out ok. The group of 40 customers went just fine and my boss who is usually insufferable said I did a good job.
