Finally killed the
SPOILER : show
big-ass tank in the desert, level 7.
It took me like six tries, but I finally just parked my own tank in front of it, it didn't move, and I had all the time in the world to destroy all of the turrets.
I came from Valkyria Chronicles 2, so the lancers and tank in this one BLOW in comparison. It took me like seven tries to finally win.
Now Alicia and Welkin just got blown the fuck up, so I'm walking them through the woods.
I feel like the rest of the battles will be more free form from here. I HATE having to follow such a specific direction in a game, like in that last fight. I get a million game overs trying to cut time or find a shortcut because it's so tedious when you have a set direction to follow.

The art style and story are miles ahead of VC2 though. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Yeah man, that level is a killer, took me ages the first time too. Yeah, battles are definitely more open after that stage. Plus you start getting cooler gear.

You still have the stealth level and the train to come though .

EDIT: Oh your on the stealth level. Easily the stupidest in the game, I just ended up look in a guide because I got bored with it.

I've finally hit the difficulty spike in Shadow of Mordor. Goddammit.

Logged into Guildwars 2 for the first time in ages. Fuck that game.

I legitimately miss when GW1 was active, the best gaming experience i've had. WoW didn't even have that spark

I really liked how zone quests would appear and random people would come outta the woodwork to kill a boss or something. It made GW2 feel lively. You could work together to accomplish a common goal, get your asses kicked, and chat for a minute when it was over.
I hated the dungeons and world vs. world, although it's an ambitious concept...didn't care for the story either. It was really exciting to play in beta and at launch. Its class and skill system are interesting and I'm glad to see MMOs going for a more active approach to combat. Laying mines in beta PVP when they still made people fly was fucking hilarious and Engineer is a great class design.
Out of the current big MMOs, it's the one I would most likely go back to for a while...although I'm really burned out on the genre.

But yeah, GW1 was amazing and nothing else can really duplicate that experience. I think there's actually been a movement to go back to it recently.
Fucking ettins ruining my runs.

Yeah, GW1 was mah thing too. Pretty much the only MMO I ever actively participated in PVP on.

Also gothic batman armour. (I was actually Luxon though)

I never got my Elite Canthan necromancer armor, still missing some expensive supplies...
It was so lame when I saw that the AI sidekicks from Nightfall could manage their zombie army nearly as well as I could.
I mean, I was okay with moving to a curse-based build so we could have one zombie necro and a curse one, but...running around with all those minions was more fun than casting disease spells, even though they did huge damage after spreading throughout a big group of dudes.

Haha, I think I was the opposite and Canthan was the only elite armour I ever got for my necro. I hear you man, I mean, god damn flesh golems. So much fun.

The thing is that GW1 was very team and skill orientated, while GW2 is purely solo then turns into a huge group, spamming whatever DPS they have to kill the champion. I know that isn't exactly a new argument, it's just that the 'effort to reward' scale in this game is so unbalanced. It was a great game at launch as well as being graphically and aesthetically gorgeous - it's the best looking Online game i've ever seen. It's just that now, everyone has left after they've done everything or they're grinding the boring crafting system for Ascended equipment.

I honestly love MMOs and I kind of wish that MOBAs weren't taking over, cooperative questing in a fantasy world is just something everyone should enjoy. I do like GW2, i'd just love an excuse to play it. I'll see about making another character I think. :idk:

I'd love an MMO that heavily rewarded grouping up or even required it to progress. Being able to solo 90% of the content is the trend and it's great if you're pressed for time or don't wanna get too involved, but I feel like it reduces the social aspect of the game. I can't remember the last time I was in a group that wasn't formed just to fight one boss or something like that.
I like exploring the game with other people. My friends all became DUNGEON FINDER ALL DAY ERR DAY AND THEN WE CAN RAID ALL DAY ERR DAY types when it comes to MMOs.
GW2's world event system is appealing to me because it brings a buncha people together, but in the end it does still go back to running around alone most of the time.

I'd play the shit out of Wurm Online if it weren't so clunky and technical. It's great just exploring the totally player-built world, and to get anywhere you have to barter with and help out other players. It's a really cool concept, just a little too far on the "need to have the wiki open at all times" side.

I might reinstall GW1 soon
On another note, I've been craving actiony combat like in Neverwinter, Vindictus or TERA lately...but I'm not going back to those games.

You guys ever play Dive Kick? There's a 2D fighter for ya.

I've been playing Hotline Miami. Holy shit that game is awesome. Great music and killer story. The only problem is that I get way too weird if I play it for too long. I was going outside to smoke and my neighbor was walking by the door. My heart started racing and for a second I though he was gonna kill me. I had to take a Futurama break as a pallette cleanser. That game is intense.

To get that you need an organized group and set times/availability - I run a casual (by my standards, I did raid with Fires of Heaven in the stone age, so anything after that is) raiding guild that kills bosses three nights a week (12ish hours).

Have to have a life and a schedule that allows for that though.

I only play to raid - anything else is an occasional timekiller.

And to do that in a format I like, I need 20+ other people.

I'm addicted to Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. Thousands of hours burned. I've quit forever countless times. Can't play anything resembling a roguelike because they give me the dcss itch. Make it stop... :erm:
