Yeah, I got the V4 while waiting on my Dunwich build, snagged it from a local guy with a huge Ampeg collection. Mine was his backup for years and after nagging him forever he decided to let it go. He only asked $450 because he's a friend of the family plus it had never been recapped or retubed. That deal too good to be true and I couldn't help but hit it even thought the Dunwich was coming in soon.

It's so loud tho I rarely play it. Thinking about trading it back to the same guy for a pristine V2. Those are much harder to find in my experience and his is cleaner than my V4, pretty much the perfect V2. Now to make it happen. It's been tough convincing him he want's to do this trade but he always uses the V4s, never the V2s. Just sitting there longing for some attention....

Yup, I originally contacted Nick about the same thing, pimped out V4 design was all I had my mind set on. After talking awhile, I went with a Metro instead and just bought a V4. Would still love to see Nick's take on that amp though, I'm sure it would be sick.

Misterstomach had a local buddy/amp tech that recently launched an boutique amp company (the name is escaping me right now) but he released a decked out V4 based model. Sounded super cool, they even had a party to launch it's release, drank some beers and chatted with friends and rocked that new amp. Sounds like a fun time.

And yeah, that shop in NJ is probably the spot to go if you're wanting a solid vintage Ampeg. Pretty awesome you have a former employee around to fix things up.

I NEVER thought you were spamming and appreciated all your posts and gear pRon and insight but I don't see why you wouldn't want to streamline everything in one thread. That way others interested that don't wanna sift through the DR thread can go right there and see what's up.

Hey iPhones aren't horrible for recording, they can get the job done if placed correctly.
