Other than the fact I find this gofundme thing really offensive, lazy, and entitled (as other people have said), the fact she is offering a "comic" just makes me laugh. Talk about half assing it. Illustrators like Kirby that can pump out work at a crazy pace just ain't common anymore and anyone expecting something neat is in for a bad experience. I have seen the comics she drew...no one would pay for the result in a professional environment.

Kind of insulting to all the people that work their asses off to get into comics/artistic careers and make a living wage. To get my first professional pen and ink setup, good drafting table, and bristol board I had to sell my moog rogue and take on extra shifts as a plumber. Gotta make sacrifices to get to where you need/want to go. I see a good $1000 on the wall behind her she could liquidate to gofundherself.

The whole thing is lame. Oh well, $20 ain't going to save anyone or anything. Enjoy the Arby's or whatever on somebody else's dime.

^This is absolutely true. You can definitely make a living as an artist or creative person wherever you are, you just have to be really fucking good at what you do, willing to put in the time and effort to get the gigs (and suffer through/love freelancing in the meantime) and then you have to get lucky enough to network with the right people and find yourself in a position to capitalize on opportunities.

Until/if that happens you shut the fuck up and work "shitty" jobs and make your art in the meantime just like everyone else. No one owes you a living because you want to be an artist.

Much easier to get a job when you aren't posting stuff about your life on the internet all day long everyday.

Just sad. Goes to show how much she values all the hard work people put in at their actual jobs on top of their creative endeavors. No one deserves 2500 a month while never producing anything and also selling whatever products they do complete (to add on top of the 2500). I know she ain't going to get it, but damn if she doesn't think she is special and above the rest of us. I used to come home sick from the sun, dead tired, and bleeding for 350 a week as a plumber's helper. Get my guitar, notebook, or pen and ink stuff out and work some more. Sure 80 hours a week on serious work sucked, but it's what I wanted. Never sold a damn thing and got payed $35 for a show once, but it was my dream (and I never did it for money, which would have been nice, it was to invest in my skills and myself so I could get to a point where I could stop being a laborer). My wife had to do the same thing to become a doctor (except she was making less for a lot of that). That's the world, live in it.

Part of living off of artistic stuff is learning to budget from a sale too. I guess that hasn't set in.

Oh well, I sound like an angry old man now. I just hate entitlement even though I live in the capital of it (LA sucks).

Speaking of which, I am selling $15 conversations where you can ask me 5 questions via e-mail so I can get a RE-201 space echo. Once I get that, I will offer $10 "shout outs" where you can hear your name bathed in Roland Echo and delivered via aif-in-e-mail. Anybody in? If anybody offers 550 or more you get an akai mpc. haha. That's a reward right?

I have an infinte higher level of respect for the dude that takes scrap metal from recycling trash cans then somebody asking for handouts on the internet.

This. I worked a FT job for 18 months plus dwarfcraft at night, and 3 kids/1 husband. Sometimes you just have to put in the work, even if you feel you aren't getting the attention you deserve. I would have loved to not work that second job, but it got us through so we could grow to where we are now. Totally worth it in every way. I'd do it again in a heartbeat if we needed it.

Not trying to break ILF rule #1...but I would sooner pay her to stfu and gtfo social media.
Enough already, it's embarrassing. Take your lack of credibility the FOH.
