Yeah some Ultra Man on that tape, I wound up with a bunch of stuff recorded in Japan in the 1990s. Been digging through a pile of live action sci-fi & monster stuff, wrestling, and some animation. I've discovered it's very pleasant to "watch" stuff in a language I don't understand while soldering.

What is it?!

Looks rad! I see a Contact Mic and some rattley bits? Is the shell part of it?

Thanks! Yeah, it's a contact mic with a TL071 preamp. Seashell is just sitting there, the red dots are dry water beads (when wet they look even more like fish eggs). Just some of the things you can put in the window and slosh around for noise. Box is a souvenir lighter case.

Finally got my jacks so I could finish the ?E.Nigma? (Lovetone Flanger with No Name). It's only been sitting on my bench for like 2 months.

A board that went unfinished for months waiting for a 3-way switch, has finally been boxed up. Parasit Studio U-235, with relay bypass from the same. Why not, there was plenty of space for it in this C-size enclosure. Nice to have so much space. Not a super neat inside as usual, but no problems either except for the willy-nilly dual board wiring... Externally, grey primer and black Hammerite.

I really dig this circuit, it has massive subs and output. Tracks well (trimmer adjustable) and -1, -2 and detuned octave settings is perfect. And it's clean, unlike most my past and present octavers. Though I still want to keep the Sidescroller on board, since that can do the fuzzy and oct. up synth sounds in parallel. But it doesn't go as ridiculously deep as the U-235.

Been a loooooong time since I've done anything old school, so I decided to tackle the Spaceman Titan II on tagboard. Fit perfectly into the box, including the BS250 reverse polarity protection and a condensed Millenium bypass scheme (thanks to IvIark over at freestompboxes!).











What I really love about this fuzz is;
a) Cleans up really well with the guitar volume, no matter where the gain knob is set. Not perfectly clean mind you, but sort of on the razors edge of breakup, depending how hard you hit. Plenty articulate though.
b) At full tilt, anything low end simply obliterates everything during the attack. After a half second or so, the upper frequencies come back in. Think, Superfuzz with uber-high gain transistors, initial blast of hiss attack, but in this case, initial blast of whatever low note you're playing. Keeping the gain set low is OK, or, crank it, and just pull back on the guitar volume a bit.
c) Nice range to the tone control.

Ultimately, it's very responsive to the guitar volume, sort of like three pedals in one. Low volume = clean. Medium volume = standard fuzz. Full volume = release the Kraken.

Little fuzz I designed for codetocontra for ilfss. Op amp distortion into blendable diode clipping paths. Muff tone circuit. I I used the TL062 because i like how it distorts. Any dual op amp should work, but higher power ones like the TL072 will add a gated sort of effect past noon on gain. The diodes and leds can be swapped for anything. Iused 4148's and LEDs. You can also omit that resistor hanging off, it just limits the gain from going below a certain point.

I think the veros right, i kind of built it on the fly and updated later

Quite a lot of jacks on the ?E.Nigma? ... the Contrablast is brilliant ... and the contact mic box is great too.

I actually thought about making a box with springs'n'stuff using a contact mic, but I'm not too sure how to avoid that high pass filtering you get when you solder a contact mic directly to a jack. It's about impedance something-something, but I don't really understand ... Would it work if I put the contact mic through a booster like an LPB1 - or would I need to add buffer in front of the booster?
I'm just a noob populating PCBs.

Warp Sound and Peachy Fuzz - Peachy Fuzz is the bomb, really big, fat sound with healthy low end!

... And a MEGALITH - totally crushing fuzz or as the chaps from Fuzzdog aptly put it: More sludgy bass fuzz than you can shake a tigh-bone at.

A buffer would absolutely be best. They are super easy to make though
