I don't got a POG, but I've got a cool octaver, does -1,-2, and +1. I could do that + a bit of cash for the PPB?

I would literally stick my dick in that board. I don't know how, but I would find a way.

You were in college in 1954?

Heheh. I so did.

Man....I've been wanting to test out the PPB....but I've got so many nonexistent funds looking to go elsewhere that you could promise to hold it for me for 6 months and I wouldn't be able to get it. So I'm out.

His little emergency board  GIVE ME NOW

Okay, I'll just take the TimeLine and we'll be cool Behndy

I am considering selling my Roland GR-55 and whatever the bass pickup is called... I would buy a TimeLine and a Midi controller. I can't believe I didn't really dig delay until this month. I was like, okay it repeats, whoopee. Then I discovered modulated delay and my head is spinning. I did trade my Ring Thing for a Digitech Timebender, this thing is no slouch. It is a $300 multi-delay pedal. It does a lot of what the TimeLine does except for ice. Granted at a more limited level but still, cool and good practice for being able to use the TimeLine practically. It also has a cool feature or 2 that the TimeLine doesn't have that I know of. You can hold one pedal down and strum the strings for the delay pattern that you want.

I am going to have to think about selling my synth a bit more though. How awesome would it be to eventually have both...

So...Losers' Reunion....

https://www.facebook.com/losersreunion

We got decently big in the area. Started booking shows in Austin and NOLA but then the singer got behind on bills, paniced, and took a construction job that brings him through Memphis and San Antonio with him not knowing where he'll be until a week before. He kinda gets in periods of digging ruts and then doing impulsive things when he realizes he's burried himself. So we had to cancel everything and couldn't book any new gigs. Well...as I predicted, work slowed down and he isn't making all the money he was promised there so he's looking to move back.

Me and rhythm guitar player started forming a new thing....Jet Jaguar....

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jet-Jaguar/321480114570994

The lead guitar from LR is in it, too...but LR is more his thing than this. It's been slow going but we LOVE the direction it's going in musically. The problem with it is that the singer is a single dad who has custody half the time so things move REALLY slow. We originally were thinking about being a cover band....but like...a cool one...doing Cold War Kids, The Pixies, Silversun Pickups....then we kinda started talking about doing originals.

So LR singer tells me a couple of weeks ago he's coming back in and we all immediately start discussing reforming. A little back history, the band sound ULTRA 90's alt rock. The singer and lead have been writing music together for over 10 years and a lot of it is that....so me and rhythm start chatting and we kinda decide we're not REALLY excited about continuing with this dated music. When we first formed, him and I weren't really into writing but we've progressed over the past three years. I tell LR singer "when we go to write again, me and rhythm would like to be a part of writing the songs". Singer starts going on this irrational rant about how "when he has a vision, it's his vision and he doesn't want it changed". I told him "it's a band, when a song is brought to the table it's OUR vision, not just yours"....lots of back and forths saying basically "blah blah blah my vision" "blah blah blah we're not your backup band (but in a more diplomatic way)" and then he starts the babyish stuff of ignoring me when I see him out and about and go up and say "hey".

So long story still quite long, me and rhythm are kind of like, "fuck you guys". We have all the cards in that we have other musical things going and would be a'ight playing with other people. There's not a TON of good musicians in the area, but we should be good. LR is established, and lead and singer are damn good, so we would prefer to get that going. But not with the same direction we were headed. JJ looks like it'll always move too slow to do more than covers so I guess we're looking for an original project somewhere. As far as the other two, I made sure everything LR was licensed under LR....not individual names. The drummer moved very far away so he's kinda out of it. I'm pretty sure they can't carry on the name with 2/5 of the members and I have total control over all of the social media and about $2,000 in merch in my attic. They have a lot of emotion invested in this band and singer is at a point where it's this or nothing. Lead is in like 3 or 4 cover bands but I think it is this for him originally or nothing.

If they come to their senses and cave: Awesome.

If not: Fuck 'em.

I'm not being that blunt with them in person. I understand they've been writing together...alone together...for over a decade. Kinda hard to swallow. So I'm making sure I give them time to think it over and am not burning any bridges while they do.

Long rant. My bad.

neh. DESCRIPTIVE rant.

yeah. fuck 'em if they don't want y'all to have a voice in what's being made. i don't understand that. the laet thing i was in i was the only one writing everything musical but the drums pretty much. got fucking BORING. i LOVE having somebody to bounce ideas off. morph shit into new and better versions of itself.

sounds like you're handling it well and setting yourself up not to get fucked. good for cha.

A compromise would be you and rhythm guitarist write together and bring songs to the table as well. If singer dude would accept that. Probably not if it isn't his vision.

Man I would be resentful if I allowed myself to be a situation like that. Being treated as a sideman while it is supposed to be a band. I am feeling lucky. Whoever brings something to the table gets a fair shot of it turning into a completed song. I have wrote a few of the songs, co-wrote some, or just figured out my part on the rest. Our singer/rhythm player has done the bulk of the writing, but I still tend to help her tighten it up. Our lead has written a song, although she and the drummer are in another band and sometimes I know she gives the Gold to them, other times I don't think that. Plus that band has been together for a decade and not been real active for a long time.

Anyways, one or two people don't control your musical destiny unless you give them the power to, and apparently you aren't Sousa.

That's kinda where they have us. Me and rhythm aren't that great at just creating from nothing. We're pretty excellent at taking a chorus and writing a verse to it, though. We'd love to be there when they're like "we have this verse" and then help them make it go places. When we were talking about reforming, lead looked at me and said "hey man, I've got 11 songs all written up and ready to go". I was like "fuck".

I'll admit all day long that they're still going to be the main writers. We just want to be there to flavor it up. I kinda thought Singer would be a little understanding since he wants to go in a more modern/indie direction (or always says he does) and that the Lead would be the trouble because he is stubborn as hell and 90's Alt/Better Than Ezra to the core.....but they threw me a curve ball.

In fact, Lead hasn't even been made aware this is happening. He's on his honeymoon for another week. Singer can be bipolar and get in Lady moods sometimes where he just bitches about everything. I don't know, it's all kinda blah. I think it'll end up working out in the end but I'm making sure me and rhythm are set up nice if it doesn't.

I hear you dudes on band woes. I was told this new band was super committed to weekly practices. I audition last week, they say they want me to play with them. This week, guess who isn't having practice? One guitarist is out of town, so we're not playing. WE HAVE TWO MORE! WHO CARES ABOUT ONE GUITARIST?!

Sousa...if you & rhythm brought your songs to the band, would they knee-jerk automatically be rejected?

Veering a bit here for a personal grip that sorta relates to Sousa's band situation as far as whether they're 'equal' members...and using a specific band as my example; an old boss of mine loved this jazz ensemble known as 'The Rippingtons, featuring Russ Freeman'. Now, when I see a title such as that, I'm thinking that it's the band (Rippingtons) with a special guest/not regular band member (Freeman) appearing on this album. But no, the band is actually Freeman's band. Somehow, this has always bugged me a bit...to me, it kinda smacks of someone who feels that they deserve special mention, a way of placing themselves above the rabble in the band. If you want top billing, why not just go with * insert your name here * and the *insert band name here* (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, etc). This 'featuring' thingy just seems so...I dunno, pretentious or something. OK.../random rant.

Yeah. I'm totally with you on that.

I don't understand the need for special attention to begin with. I kinda loathe singers. They always act like they spend just as long practicing their trade as musicians...but FUCK them. Or they'll act like you should just have the pedal needed or better gear and it's like FUCK YOU STUPID SINGER ASSHOLE.

Fucking singers.

And then they want to be called musicians. Fuck them.

Heh.

But yeah, how many singers leave their great bands to do a solo thing and they fucking fail? Killing the band and their own careers. What's fucking wrong with sharing the credit and staying in the band. Be loyal. Chaps my ass.

Like dude I'm doing the Tool cover band with. He's brilliant. Amazing voice. Looks the part of a star. Just an awesome guy. He tried out for Idol all the time. Never quite makes it but he's the only person in this town that has IT. But he's always trying solo shit. If he would just get in a band that has good musicians to back him up, they'd probably have "made it" by now.

Motherfucking singers, man.

I love my wife. All-state singer. BEAUTIFUL voice. Julie Andrews through and through. But when she tries to compare that to my all-state tuba it's like....WTF....you sing. Get outta here with that shit.

And to go back to the original question, Mudd, that's kinda the thing. We don't really WRITE stuff. And singer knows this. We're really good at tweaking stuff or coming up with breakdown or bridges to their verses....they're trying to shut us out of the song shaping and we want in when the song is just being put together so that we can modernize it and make sure our parts aren't just background. We understand they're still the guys.....but that whole "my vision" as opposed to "our vision" can't happen.
