Last night I played Journey with a couple of friends watching. They didn't tell me anything and just let me go through it. I happened to somehow skip basically all of the tutorials in the first level and found a loophole to get past the first level. Then some online player who I didn't even see completed the second level for me while I was off exploring the weird corners of the map, so I somehow made the strange connection that exploring = solving the levels. In the later levels I got lost like a million times as I was just figuring out the basic mechanics. It was an extremely fun and strange experience. My friends didn't correct me throughout the whole thing and just kept laughing and looking puzzled. Strange days.

Dishonored was my game of the year. Fantastic art direction, old school play how you like sandbox levels. If anything the blink power makes it a less tedious stealth game, because you spend less time painfully sneaking between hiding spots. Plus if you go full on murderous you can barrel through the game in a couple of hours. The world and setting don't immediately suck you in, but there's cool stuff in there if you dig, and the DLC campaign is probably better than the main game.
I went patient and stealthy the first time through, If I got caught I would murder for a while, explore the level then reload and try my perfect stealth run again... not for everyone though I guess. Really looking forward to the sequel, and the Prey/System Shock inspired game the developers are working on.

YES! I went for the "clean hands"/"ghost"-achivement or whatever it was called as well. Probably the most fun I've had gaming in the last couple of years. Never got around to the DLC (apart from the first one), so I need to go check that out now
edit: Currently trying to play through the Resident Evil remake on the Wii. SOOOO GOOD, BUT SOOOO SCARY! Fucking running zombies, gtfo! The graphics are still amazing. When it comes to having my jaw dropped by a games graphics, nothing comes close to the first time I played this game on the GC.

Yeah, I upgraded some of my powers and equipment and it seems like that opens more things up a bit. Makes killing a bit more interesting.
I got some bits and pieces for the crossbow, so I might get my sniper on. Kind of trying not to kill as many people as possible, but the game seems to force your hand sometimes.
monkeydancer wrote:Huh I found it quite the opposite! I very much enjoy stealth games though, even though the stealth mechanics of dishonored weren't that fleshed out.
Yeah, I'm finding that. It seems that in order to get those runes and charms, it is near impossible to do so on the stealth, people get in the way.
The rats make for an interesting dynamic, and I just ran into weepers, so that's gonna change it up a bit.
I'm trying to be stealthy and spare lives where I can, but I think a reality of not spending 100 hours to complete a section that should take 1 is that motherfuckers have to die.
I got my evil eye dark vision fully upgraded, that helps a lot. Also have vitality, blink, bend time, and just got shadow kill, which I want to try.
Kind of annoyed you can't scavenge weapons for trade and do upgrades on the fly.
A map would be fucking nice also.

I get super anal about stealth games, so I ended up spending about 20 hours to complete Dishonored.
I want to go back for the DLC, mainly because they changed the Blink so that, when you blink in the air, you actually freeze and can redirect yourself.

You mean if you jump and blink before you vome down? If so, thats badass.
At Iommic: use them tranquilizer crossbow bolts if you dont want to murder everyone. Theres even a perk that lets you put dudes to sleep during combat.

Honestly, for non lethal in any game I think its just better to play Ghost. The biggest problem with non lethal takedowns is that while you didnt kill them, they still have a good change of dying through environmental damage. Whether it be falling for even being near enemy fire. I get better results by leaving everyone. I kind of have a habit of roleplaying, and I like playing the total unseen guy. Plus I like to imagine the guards getting yelled at by their boss for letting me steal all their shit without them knowing.
I think the reason why i loved Dishonored so much what that it rewarded smart playstyles with more efficient navigation options rather than giving a whole bunch of non lethal toys. You can get really experimental with killing the same way you can roof jump and clear half the level. I dont think that I ever fired a gun, thrown a grenade or use most of the skills, aside from double blink and double jump. Titanfall is kind of similar in the sense that you need to be off the ground because your strength is in the heights.
I might get a 6 pack and enjoy my Friday night like I should.

I'm starting to feel like I need to give Dishonoured a second chance.
I feel like a lot of my problems with the game came from it not meeting the huge expectations I had before it came out

I loved every second of Dishonored! I played some parts stealthy, some kills but overall low chaos. Then I just went high chaos brawler on the DLC, was also fun.

Apologies to you guys, the site didn't show your replies when I posted mine. Strange.
Yeah dub, there are certainly elements that help to make it less of a teeth pulling process (I don't mind going stealth when necessary) but it does seem sometimes as though it isn't really possible to explore an area properly without having to take some scalps. System Shock is rad.

I'm a completist, so it will probably take me that long anyway
I need to check out this DLC I think. Simple things like that can really help the enjoyability factor.

Yeah, I tried to save those tranq darts for end of mission stuff. They're handy. I got the chokehold thing down pretty good now. I was struggling at first. Found the controls a bit clunky.

Has anyone gotten to play Shadow of Mordor yet?

It's so great. The Nemesis system is the most interesting and exciting thing I've seen in a video game in a very long time.
Also, super brutal Batman combat.

I'm really curious, though i'll probably wait until another Steam Sale.
Balls deep into Witcher 2 again. It's amazing how beautiful this game is, it's atleast 3 years old from a tiny tiny studio and it looks so much better than anything new.

this is a game I want to play once I get my computer updated.
Think I might pickup Diablo 3 while it's on sale right now, too.
Also Shadows of Mordor looks sweet.
