I'll be the first to admit that when you love a band, your threshold for bad output from said band tends to go a million times higher.

I mean look at my dad. I think it's ok to like Cream, but to stick with Clapton through all the shit afterwards... that dedication just proves the point.

With that in mind though, there are lots of bands that I love and would totally bristle at someone hating, but I feel like emo's one of those genres for which you have to understand people's disdain. It's SO saccharine and mockable. And shit—I'll say those characteristics apply to the "old" emo that I love, too... it's just more extreme (to my ears) in the more recent permutations.

I think they picked him cause Aerosmith had a videogame in the early 90s cause Revolution X where you had to save Aerosmith/the world from an anti music world dictator while listening to sega-ized aerosmith songs! it was as good as it sounds.

FUCK, I used to play this all the time in late high school and early university.

Chris Carrabba in this game is perfect.

Also, fuck Steven Tyler. This game made me hate him so bad LOL

This was also an arcade shooter, if I remember right.

Ha, actually consoles too. Man, I don't know which is more depressing...playing it at home or at an arcade.

I remember it being in arcades back then but when I picked up a sega saturn at a yard sale a few years back that was the only game it came with haha. I thought it was awesome I paid $5 for something that was almost $400 new

I think this is as good a time as any to offer up an unpopular album opinion: I have a total soft spot for Pump. ::stands awaiting shit pelting::

Yeah, I know. But my first concert ever was that tour. I was 10 years old—Joan Jett opened, and she was admittedly a lot better than the Bad Boys from Boston...

I will give you zero shit! While I won't listen to most of their stuff on my own if it comes on the radio I'll rock out, I really like Walk This Way haha. I defend them as being really good at what they do. but I also like ZZ top in the same way....

Haha yeah man! I love ZZ Top much more unashamedly though... Billy Gibbons has at least avoided the network talent show circuit.

If they had actually broken up in 1981 or whatever and just ended their output there I think I would like them a lot more. And that's mostly just for Sweet Emotion and Toys in the Attic (the song), which would be like a million times better if BOC had done it.

In my middle school everyone loved Thriller and hated Springsteen. I had some unpopular album tastes back then. I didn't hate Thriller, just didn't get it.

Totally. Had some legitimately good songs.

All anyone remembers is the thoroughly mediocre "AM Radio" but "Santa Monica" is fucking perfect.
