Re: Effector 13 Is Back
I mean, if I could order shoegazer circuit built completely to my specs wired with Kevin Shields' back hair and then pay for it upon delivery for $50 I'd do it.

Nice use of the word "scummy" in a news headline.

No fucking way.
Does this mean anyone can do this? I haven't got much money next week, so feel free to give me some. I can make an ambient loop for you, or draw your penis in paint if you'd like.

The beggars in my town aren't up to youtube/crowdfunding yet, they just hang out on freeway on/off ramps.

I love the idea of crowd funding for people who are creating lots of content that people want. If you are writing short stories and regularly publish or release a song or two every month, crowd funding can be a way to get your fans to support you directly. It should allow artists to be paid for their work, which I feel is critically important.Eivind August wrote:No fucking way.

But all of that hangs on the idea that finish content and you deliver interesting creative work. It isn't any different than rich patrons supporting famous renaissance artists or composers. But, as in all things, there needs to be finished work and a history of completion and honesty, which is not happening in a portion of the people making use of this service.

I agree, but Devis pitch is sort of ridiculous. She can post her music on Bandcamp with a buy now-option and have a donate-option on a website for her art. Not that it's "wrong" of her to do this. I mean, if people want to pay up front for potential services, then that's great for her. It's just a bit absurd. Is it that hard to get work in the US these days?aens_wife wrote:I love the idea of crowd funding for people who are creating lots of content that people want. On the other hand, I do agree that artists deserve to get paid. It's just a bit hard to fit in todays mostly capitalist economy.
Edit2: I don't really know where I'm going with that last sentence.

Re: Effector 13 Is Back
Agreed. She is also pretty disingenuous about her financial prospects. Up until this month, we were working hard to grow that brand. And she will still receive royalties, though at a MUCH lower amount, since we aren't working hard on that brand anymore and have pulled all of our new releases under the DC brand. Not telling people that is gross.Eivind August wrote: I agree, but Devis pitch is sort of ridiculous. And no, it isn't that hard to find a job if you want one.
